Time to indulge in the Christmas cheer and feasts while doing year-end festive shopping! City Square Mall, located at the junction of Serangoon and Kitchener Roads and directly connected to Farrer Park MRT Station, is home to about 200 tenants such as Uniqlo, Toys’R’Us, Golden Village and some 50 F&B outlets.

If you are thinking of where to head out to for your Christmas celebration meals with your family and friends, here are 10 restaurants and cafes in the family-friendly mall which offer some festive specials, some of which you will find hard to resist.

Paddington House of Pancakes #02-35/36
Tel: +65 6612 9029

THE pancake place that serves like a hundred different types of pancakes, with varieties from America, Australia, Austria, China, France, Holland, and Sweden.

PHOP’s Christmas Tree Pancake Stack ($18++) comes in a stack of five fluffy pancakes shaped like a Christmas Tree, served with fresh strawberries, banana & peaches, topped with a dusting of ‘snow’, and further drizzled with maple syrup. Must share with friends.

* The only outlet in Singapore at City Square Mall, PHOP will offer the Christmas Tree Pancake Stack from 20 Nov 2015 to 3 Jan 2016.

Available from 26 Nov, the Christmas-themed cupcakes (available in 25pcs per box at $33) come in cute figurines and patterns of Santa Claus, Christmas Trees and Gingerbread Man that will bring smiles to a festive party. The Manhattan FISH MARKET #04-12/13
Tel: +65 6509 6309

Tip: Whip your cameras out for the Flaming Platters.

Other than turkeys, lobsters are also believed to be eaten during Thanksgiving, and The Manhattan FISH MARKET’s new Double Lobsters Platter ($56.95, meant for 2) should provide you with twice the joy.

The highlight of the platter is the two whole lobsters with two different dressings – one with a creamy herb sauce, the other with their signature Flaming sauce which will be torched at your table. (I preferred the sweeter signature sauce which went quite well with seafood.)

Equally noteworthy are the accompaniments, which include Cajun chicken breast drizzled with cheese sauce, fried calamari and Garlic Herb mussels on Garlic Herb rice.

Délifrance #B2-04
Tel: +65 6509 7600

Délifrance’s new logcakes are crowd-pleasers – the Matcha Azuki ($48 per 1kg) – Matcha enriched sponge roll with sweet Azuki beans; and White Chocolate and Raspberry ($48 for 1 kg) – Sweet white chocolate sponge combined with the thick tangy raspberry coulis (a thick fruit sauce). Enjoy a 15% early bird discount when you order before 30 Nov.

There are also hot ‘Santa’ meals available – The Santa Baked Chicken Roulade (S$13.90) which stars a baked chicken thigh rolled with spinach chicken mousse; and Santa Roasted Half Spring Chicken (S$14.90) marinated with the chef’s secret recipe and topped off with a moreish rosemary sauce.

* Only at the City Square Mall outlet, enjoy a complimentary éclair for every hot ‘Santa’ meal ordered when you quote “DanielFoodDiary” and show this blog entry. Not valid with other promotions or discounts till 3 Jan 2016.

Swensen’s #03-37/38
Tel: +65 6509 6280

I actually had this Swensen’s Turkey Burger ($17.90) two days in a row. This is an American classic done with an interesting local twist. I wondered why the pineapple sandwiched within looked brown instead of yellow. It was actually dunked in gula melaka and then grilled. The turkey patty was plump, well marinated and succulent (not dry as I would have imagined.)

The other localised dessert to look out for is the Potong Supreme Pleaser – a red bean potong ice cream on top, vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate, and crinkle-cut chips dipped in chocolate. Such nostalgic indulgence!

* Only at the City Square Mall outlet, enjoy 1-for-1 Christmas Sundaes when you quote “DanielFoodDiary” and show this blog entry. Not valid on eve of and public holidays or with other promotions or discounts till 31 Dec.

Cedele Bakery Café #01-24/25
Tel: +65 6509 9762

Cedele has always been one of my go-to bakery cafes to get wholesome cakes. Other than the Flourless Chocolate Logcake ($52) for this festive season, the Coconut Paradise ($52) which is a locally inspired logcake combining coconut gula melaka frosting with pandan sponge cake (lovely textures), and the gorgeous Pink Lady Tiramisu Cake ($68) will win some hearts and bellies over.

There is also a Christmas Special Sandwich ($11.50 ala carte, $15.50 with soup, $14 with Apple Cinnamon Chai Tea) which contains succulent turkey ham, grilled prawns, avocado, sweet savoury apple chutney, all deliciously sandwiched in a light green spinach slim bap bread – a thinner, nutrient packed bun for carb-conscious diners who wish to indulge this Christmas. Cedele says: No transfat, no artificial ingredients.

Wingstop #B1-33/34/K15
Tel: +65 6509 6571

Of all the wings at Wingstop, the Louisiana Rub (6 piece for $7.95) has been one of the most popular – a crispy dry rub, hint of garlic wrapped juicy wings. If you prefer something wet and saucy, then go for the Mango Habanero Wings for a sweet-start and fiery-end.

Also discovered two of their side dishes which are must-tries – the super addictive crispy Mushroom Fritters ($5.50) which are made from fresh button mushrooms, and Tortilla Chips with Salsa & Cheese ($4.50).

* Only at the City Square Mall outlet, enjoy an exclusive 10% discount when you quote “DanielFoodDiary” and show this blog entry. Not valid with other promotions or discounts till 13th Dec. In addition, if you are a super Wingstop fan, spend $25 in a single receipt for the Christmas Lucky Draw and stand to win a year’s worth of Wingstop wings!

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant #03-53/55

There are not many restaurants which can serve Carbonara Spaghetti ($5.90) and Sirloin Steak ($11.90) at such wallet friendly prices.

Besides the Sirloin Steak, none of its dishes is above $10. Some of their popular dishes include Oven-Grilled Escargots ($5.90), Potato Omelette ($3.90), Seafood Risotto, and Hamburger & Pork Grilled Hot Plate ($8.90).
