[Bangkok] Entering Vanilla Garden is like going in a rich man’s mansion. A fountain surrounded by greens and three separate buildings.
Located at Sukhumvit Soi 63 (Ekamai 12) which is considered a café hotspot, a library, bake-house and Japanese style café sit in the premises.
The front is a bakeshop, dressed in vintage factory fashion with an open baking room. Don’t worry, there’s isn’t a heavy smell of the baked goods.
You must have The Ring Original (280 baht) – Vanilla’s signature croissant doughnut topped with homemade ice cream surrounded by a layer of caramel, siting in a pool of vanilla custard sauce. Irresistible.
The Ring (reminds me of that Japanese Sadako movie) also comes in Salty Caramel (280 baht) and Bacon Maple (280 baht) flavours.
There are other recommended desserts such as the Dark Chocolate Self Saucing Cake (340 baht) – moist chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries, or Marshmallow Lava (340 baht) – made from Blonde Valrhona Chocolate baked with marshmallow and macadamia nuts.
A Big Breakfast (550 bah) includes scrambled eggs or omelette to pair with ltalian sausage, smoked ham, bacon, pancakes, yoghurt with fresh fruits and a cup of hot tea or coffee. Not cheap though.
At the back is the Japanese-themed Vanilla Café, a low-rise house filled with Japanese comics and vintage toys. So elegantly gorgeous.
Contemporary Italian and Japanese fusion cuisine such as sushi, salad, pasta, Japanese rice and Udon dishes is served, along with Japanese style dessert such as Nutella Strawberry Crepe, Red Bean Crepe, Strawberry Daifuku or Kinako Dangko.
