No, we don’t mean they serve instant coffee, but A.R.C is a 3-in-1 Coffee Place with an Academy, Roastery and Café all in one place.
Situated at Sultan Gate with a 3-storey high building, the 1st floor is a café concept with a cosy white bricked wall interior with a mini roastery site at the back.
The 2nd floor is used for as an academy for conducting classes, ranging from barista and latte art training to coffee appreciation workshops.

If there’s a café with a report card with flying colours, this is one of them.
Ms Andrea Tan, Champion of Singapore National Brewers Cup 2015, and her mentor Mr John Ryan Ting, Champion of Singapore National Barista Championships 2008, 2009, 2015, could be seen making coffee here.

The menu comprised of Brunch with the usual RayBan, I mean Ray’s Ben ($19.80) which was essentially eggs benedict with 8hrs slow braised pulled pork. T
heir mains were more interesting with Ruru Mian ($18.80), The Pork ($19.80) and Seafood Risotto ($23.80).

Our favourite was the Seafood Risotto ($23.80) with mussels, prawns, sotong and scallop in a rich and creamy sauce. The sauce reminded us of sour cream chips, interesting and yet not cloyingly jelak (rich).
Each grain was cooked to a suitable al dente with some parts slightly tough and undercooked. Seafood used was rather fresh.

Roasted Pork Belly! That’s our ARChilles’ heel. The Pork ($19.80) with 5 pieces of crispy roasted pork belly was delectable and crunchy. Add the poached pear with Ribena spheres that enhanced with an interesting citrusy touch to the savoury meat.
Uur neighbouring table was contemplating as each piece of pork belly would cost them $4, which could get them a plate of sio bak rice nearby.

Coffee beans are roasted in house which the house blend is specially made by John Ryan Ting himself. Full bodied, smooth and slightly acidic, coffee prepared by a champion.
As the exclusive distributor for Loveramics coffee cups, we could see the cups for sale on display.

The group of us are suckers for street art = OOTD alert. The hipster café includes a wall mural which depicts their story and concept of an Academy, Roastery and Café painted by the talented local artist Yip Yew Chong. How lovely.
From my interpretation, the mural tells the story of Singapore and its coffee journey, from the traditional kopi to artisanal brews. Kudos to the artist who painted this during the very rainy season in Singapore.
A cute friendly service staff obligingly helped us pose…
