PasarBella – Gourmet Space Opens At Suntec With NYC Food Truck Type Selections

PasarBella at The Grandstand is impressive in terms of vibes and traders variety, but perhaps disadvantaged by a slightly inconvenient location.

The newer PasarBella @ Suntec on first impression, happened to be quite the reverse – centralized location at Suntec City, but the food stalls overall seem to lack some kind of variety and therefore draw. I do acknowledge it can be too early in the game to decide.

The space seems to take inspiration from the Lower East Side of New York City, with colourful graffiti-walls and furniture. But perhaps I preferred the warmer, livelier environment which somehow fits better into the community-type feel over at Bukit Timah.

Street art and Suntec – not entirely sure about that.

Food-wise, there are 14 gourmet concept stalls spanning across 7,000 square-feet.

There are Wolf Burgers, Mad Dog Grills (meats), Pimp My Salad, Pita & Olives, Porsena Deli (sandwiches), Cajun on Wheels (seafood), Grillo (skewers), Rollie Ollie (sushi rolls), An-An (Vietnamese pho), Sarnies (coffee), Squeezed (juices), and drink sticks called DRINKS! (Yes, with the exclamation mark.)

The stalls…

Wolf Burgers
Gourmet burger concept by team behind Carvers & Co.

Mad Dogs Grill
Proteins cooked to your liking upon ordering.

Pimp My Salad
Create your bowl with healthy vegetable, meat and grain options.

Porsena Deli
Sandwich with house made pastrami and smoked meats.

Pita & Olives
Mediterranean-style bistro with freshly baked pita bread, kebabs and felafels.

Cajun on Wheels
Louisiana-style seafood where you can select crabs, mussels, clams, prawns with varied sauces.

Rollie Ollie
Sushi roll with Asian-inspired ingredients with Poke Bowls.

An-An
Beef pho, spring rolls and salads.

Grillo
Skewers concept with house-blended sauces.

Squeezed
Cold-pressed juices and frozen yogurt.

Sarnies
Known for their coffee.

Food-wise, some hits some misses.

I liked Grillo which has tasty skewers matched with different sauces at affordable prices; and Rollie Ollie with its playful take on sushi rolls incorporating interesting ingredients.

Ironically, some of the ‘star’ stalls were lackluster. Somehow looking good, but lacked that robust in taste.

The pro is offerings are sticking to the NYC theme, many food-truck-like items – quick takeaway bites, more American style sandwiches and burgers.

On the reverse, there seems to be overemphasis on the sandwich / burger/ salads and that the concept becomes seemingly very short on Asian hot food selection. I wished there was some kind of a Korean-Mexican bites. Or paella. Or crackling pork.
