Epicurious Café – Rainbow Cheese Toastie Makes Its Appearance In Singapore

The Insta-famous Rainbow Cheese Toast first achieved stardom half a year ago at Kala Toast in Hong Kong, with videos of red, yellow, green, blue cheese stretching in various postures that even my Yoga teacher couldn’t accomplish.

And as expected, the food trend reached Singapore, at Epicurious Café Robertson Quay, selling for $9.

Yes, we were curious about the taste too.

The place was decorated with Unicorns and Rainbow props, and the service crew would wear a Rainbow Unicorn costume (so cute!) while serving the toast.

Using natural ingredients with minimum food colouring, the Rainbow was made up of 5 different colours and flavours.

Pink (beetroot), Orange (carrot), Green (Spinach), Blue (potato and garlic with butterfly pea) and Violet (eggplant and red cabbage).

We were excited to see the golden brown toast and the rainbow cheese made using mozzarella and parmesan, with a hint of truffle smell.

Instagram-worthy colours checked, truffle for the hipsters checked, stretchability missed.

Oh no, didn’t manage to get the million-dollar shot. #FirstWorldProblems

The toast was crispy and buttery but not all flavours could be detected in the cheese. However, the garlic and the truffle smell pretty much overpowered the rest.

And the plus point was that the cheese wasn’t too jelak (rich) and overwhelming.

No need to fly to Hong Kong to have a taste of the rainbow, because we had it… “Somewhere Over the Rainbow (bridge), Epicurious lies”
