[Bangkok] If there is a champion for street food, the Thais may just clinch it – no offence to other countries around the world. Thai Street Food from Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, Khao Soy, Som Tum, and Gai Yang have captured our bellies and heart.
This event right outside Bangkok’s CentralWorld is going to keep your feet (from walking) and mouths (from eating) pretty busy.
Called Bangkok Varee, the concept is to take you back in time to experience “the Venice of the East” ,the Thai way of life along the Chao Phraya Riverbank on the occasion of the 234th anniversary of the Rattanakosin Kingdom celebrations. (It is a public holiday for the Thais next week!)
This is where you can enjoy shopping for popular products of the different riverside communities from over 200 shops, including 5-star OTOP products from around the country together with Thai folk performances and various cultural activities.
The focus for me is THE FOOD.
Bangkok Varee stretches from one end of CentralWorld to the end, with a few lanes of food stalls, so you can just imagine just how much food they have.
It gathers some of most popular shops and restaurants from the cultural communities, giving you an opportunity to taste delicious rare local food items, and desserts from all regions of Thailand. (I couldn’t find the names of some of the street food items below, as descriptions are written in Thai. If you know of any, would appreciate if you can let me know.
Happening 14th – 31st July 2016 at CentralWorld Square, Bangkok. The Thais will say, ”Reu, reu!”. You only up to the end of this month.
