This is a SUPER SPICY bowl which has a blend of fiery chilli paste made of plentiful of chilli padis, topped with char siew, bamboo shoot and Japanese leek, in Chabuton’s rich tonkotsu soup.
Level 1 is suitable for those with low tolerance, while a Level 5 should be tongue-torching and perhaps stomach churning.

Ramen wise, the ‘old favourites’ are the Uma Uma Ramen ($14), Bushi Tonkotsu ($16) and Mazesoba ($14) – a dry style ramen topped with onsen egg.
The Mazesoba may remind you a Japanese version of the local ‘bak chor mee’, with springy noodles added with chasiu, bamboo shoots, leek and sprinkling of spring onions. You may get hooked on the sauce.
Exclusive to this branch, Uma Uma also features a special menu of over 12 types of Yakitori and Kushikatsu prepared a la minute, paired with specially created homemade sauces.

YAYOI Japanese Teishoku Restaurant

Opening Hours: 11:00am – 10:00pm
YAYOI is known for its Teishoku (Set Meal) which usually includes a main dish, side dish, a bowl of Japanese Kinme rice and miso soup.
One of its best sellers is the Hitsumabushi Teishoku ($21.90), containing premium unagi (eel) on rice with dashi broth prepared in a kama-pot.
The restaurant recommends diner to enjoy the set in four different ways – in its original form first, with added condiments, with ochazuke dashi, and the 4th way – your own liking. It is a different and refreshing way to taste unagi! I enjoyed the grilled unagi pieces, glazed in a sweet and flavourful sauce.

Miharu Sapporo Ramen
#01-06
Tel: +65 6733 8464
Opening Hours: 12:00pm – 3:00pm, 6pm – 10pm Daily
Fans of authentic Sapporo style miso ramen would find their way to Miharu Sapporo Ramen, which is one of the first Japanese restaurants in Singapore to serve this style of ramen.
Their Sapporo style ramen is commonly associated with medium sized, curly yellow noodles in miso-based ramen, topped with sweet corn, butter, and bean sprouts. A point to note is the soup is generally rich, thick and saltier than the typical Tonkotsu soup bases, suitable for the colder weathers of Hokkaido.
The key ingredients to the ramen, such as noodles, miso, kelp (konbu dashi) and soup base are all directly supplied by manufacturers In Hokkaido.
The recommended include Tokusen Miso ($14.80), Tokusen Shiro Miso ($14.80) Miso Tonkotsu ($14.80) and Tokusen Shoyu ($14.80) and Tokusen Ton Shio ($14.80) – special pork flavoured soup base with a unique taste of salt.
If you have not been to Miharu for a while, also check out their latest additions – Chicken Nanban ($8), Kikurage Salad ($5), Chicken Karaage ($6) and Macha Ice Tea ($2.50).

Sandaime Bunji established in Tokyo Ginza, is an 80 year old family business known for making Kamaboko — a fish cake snack.
Specialties in Singapore’s outlet, which is their first outside Japan, include grilled Gyutan which is ox tongue, Oden and handmade Umen.
What really caught my attention was the Wagyu Round Roast Beef Set ($24.90), which came in a towering bowl with slices stacked above rice. The portion is generous with 250 grams of beef, tasty and tasty, worth every bit of its price.
Hint: It is even more affordable during lunch time at $19.90!
