Another Poké Bowl shop in Singapore.
Hopping on the Poké Bowl wave, Poké Doke (pronounced as Po-kay Do-kay) which opened at Millenia Walk aims to serve fresh quality fish, seasoned with authentic flavors from the shores of Hawaii.

Millenia Walk seems to be getting more ‘happening’ in recent months and office executives would rejoice with the various healthy eats within the mall.
Just look at Plentyfull, Tokyo Chopped Salad and now Poke Doke.

Note: you may simply walk pass the 10-seater shop without noticing as it is partially obstructed by Starbucks.
Look out for the visually-striking Hawaiian-themed sign with “Life’s A Beach” (don’t think the other way) which did pique the interest of some passer-bys.

The standard range includes Poke Doke Signature ($14), Power Food Tuna Bowl ($14) and Umi Japanese Bowl ($15.50), or DIY your bowl.
There is also a vegetarian dressing option made for their Vegetarian Shitake Tofu Bowl ($12.50).
In terms of marinate, it is straightforward with 3 types – What’s up Wasabi, Spicy Almighty and The OG, over the choice of salmon or tuna.
Plus point, each poke bowl comes with a portion of salad to promote healthy eating.

For customisation, first pick the size (Regular $12.50, Medium $14.90, Large $18.90), then select your base and poké, and end off with the choice of 4 toppings.
There is also a range of premium ingredients such as onsen egg, avocado, crispy fish skin available at a top-up of $1.50.

I like how poke bowl stores are beginning to adopt the concept of sampling. It does provide consumers a better preview of tasting notes before purchase, since various marinade concoctions can get a little exotic at times.
The What’s up Sasabi was predictable – creamy smooth wasabi mayonnaise dressing with an occasional surge of pungent aroma. Those who are not inclined to strong wasabi may want to avoid this.

The serving staff then warned me about the Spicy Almighty, a Japanese-American fusion marinade made from Hot Sauce, Mayonnaise and Togarashi Spices which is said to be extremely spicy.
For spice-lovers like me, the level of spiciness was still acceptable. I quite liked the overall rich savory blend which reminded me of bonito.
Two suggestions: The shop should consider drying the vegetables further, as the combination became too watery. That somewhat diminished the rich marinade flavors, after being mixed together with the base and toppings.
The duration of temperature of the onsen eggs could be controlled better for they weren’t exactly runny.

While I have no qualms about the fish quality and marinade, some tweaking should be done to improve on the overall taste and texture.
With the sudden influx of Poké Bowl shops opening In Singapore (easily more than 10 in a year), I think it is important for establishments to maintain a certain level of food consistency or risk being labelled as “just another poké bowl place”.
