PoMo at Selegie Road is considered students’ land, with a number of private education schools such as Kaplan and arts institutions around.
So getting into the young ones’ hearts and tummies is important if you want to set up a food business here.
M Seven Café seems to have got it right – a casual, no-fuss café offering a selection of all-day-breakfast dishes, pasta, rosti, burgers, soups, salads, finger food, milk shakes and drinks.

The café also offers value set lunches from 10am to 2pm DAILY including weekends, at $11.90 nett. The set consist of any main course (excluding burger) and any drink from the menu.
A Student Set Lunch is priced at $9.90 nett with main course and a drink from the students’ menu. Considered value for its money, if you compare this to other cafes in the vicinity.

The recommended dishes include Truffle Scrambled Egg ($9.50), Salmon German Rosti ($10.50), Chicken Cheesy Sausage German Rosti ($10.00), Prawn Chilli Cream Pasta ($10.00) and Seafood Tomyum Pasta ($10.00).

I went straight for the Prawn Chilli Cream Pasta ($10.00), and the pasta probably had it right in terms of spiciness level – it wasn’t over at all, though I wished the sauce was a tad creamier.
The café wasn’t stingy in terms of ingredients, and gave a number of sweet, chunky prawns.

Whenever I have rosti, I am reminded of Marché. M Seven Café did a fairly decent rendition, where you could taste obvious strips of the potatoes which were nicely crisp and not mushy.

There was separate sour cream given, and I found that I didn’t need much of that. The main flip side was the pan-fried salmon which was quite thin and oily.
