On my list are 30 to 40 NEW restaurants and cafes opening up in Singapore, as the year-end typically welcomes a bumper crop.
I will usually try to visit all the NEW cafes in Singapore – that makes it more than 100 this year. At least you will find me stepping in to buy a coffee and have a look at the menu.
To stand out from the competition, I think what customers are looking out for are quality food, a unique selling point, and generally okay to good vibes.
Being “instagrammable” may only get businesses rather temporary visibility these days. At least better than none.
Here are 12 NEW Cafés In Singapore for the month of November 2017, and I think you may be excited by some.

Babao Dessert
54 South Bridge Road Singapore 058685 (Clarke Quay MRT)
Opening Hours: 12.00pm – 12.00mn (Sun – Thurs), 12:00pm – 3:00am (Fri – Sat)
Matcha And Durian Kakigori, Along With Local Traditional Desserts
This is a dessert shop at South Bridge Road that sells BOTH Japanese style Kakigori and local traditional desserts.
Babao Dessert’s aim is to provide something for everyone, and therefore the menu would include local traditional desserts like Ah Balling soup, kakigori and seasonal specials.
The signature items at Babao included Sago in 4 different flavours of Mango, Durian (seasonal), Yam and Soursop, priced from $3.80 to $6.50.
Having a $8.80 Kakigori after that many heavily-priced bingsu was indeed refreshing. Looking like it was copied, or well inspired from Bangkok’s insanely popular After You, the Matcha Kakigori ($8.80) was actually uplifting. Babao Dessert (South Bridge Road)

Café de Paris
313 Orchard Road #B1-37 313@Somerset, Singapore 238895
Opening Hours: 10:00am – 11:00pm
Korean Cafe With Fruits BonBon Opening At 313@Somerset
Café de Paris is best known for its Instagram-worthy Sweet BonBon, a dessert drink combination in a large cup, piled with fruit fruits, cream and slushie.
However, the price screamed at me. $17.80 to $19.80 for a cup. WAH. To be fair, the Mango and Strawberry cups are priced at 16,000 Korean Won, equivalent to SGD$19.40. But still.
The Sweet BonBon comes in flavours of Mango, Grape, Blueberry, Strawberry, Cherry, and Raspberry.
Loved the fruits, didn’t like the cream. Café de Paris (313@somerset)

dal.komm Coffee – Marina Square
Marina Square 6 Raffles Boulevard #02-278 Singapore 039594
“DOTS & Goblin” Korea Cafe Opens At Marina Square
The café chain which originated from Korea is known to be featured in a number of memorable scenes in hit Korean TV dramas Descendants of the Sun (congrats Song Song!) and Goblin: The Lonely and Great God.
The fanfare surrounding the opening of this branch is significantly less, also because K-drama fans have moved on to other series.
Other than the usual Caffe Latte ($6.00, $6.50) and Cappuccino ($6.00, $6.50), specialty flavoured drinks offered were the Vanilla Latte, Rose Latte, Green Tea Caffe Latte, and Lavender Latte ($6.50 $7.00). Dual coloured iced drinks make up instagrammable photos of late.
Other highlight dal.komm drink creations include the Hot Choco Cube ($8.50), Iced Honey Grapefruit ($8.90), Royal Milk Tea ($7.00, $7.50), and Hot Sweet Potato Latte ($7.00, $7.50 for cold) – all featured in those mentioned K-dramas at one point or another. Dal.komm Coffee (Marina Square)

Hatter Street Bakehouse & Café
462 Crawford Lane #01-59 Singapore 190462
Tel: +65 8501 5491
Opening Hours: 12:00pm – 11:00pm (Sun – Thurs), 12:00pm – 12:00am (Fri – Sat)
NEW Café At Crawford Lane, Serving Unicorn Waffles
Hatter’s Street has opened a branch at 462 Crawford Lane, making it neighbours with Tolido’s Espresso Nook which has over the years gained some following, and Penang casual eatery Gu Cheng.
At the Crawford Lane outlet, sweet treats offered include the Standard Whoaffle ($9.50), Unicorn Whoaffle ($14), and Choochi Monsta ($14).
The Unicorn Whoaffle ($14) turned out to be well, averagely decent, topped with two scoops of creamy “mystical” ice cream, with a decorated face.
The whoaffle tasted like it could have been crispier, with slightly fluffier interior. Hatter Street (Crawford Lane)

Creamier Tiong Bahru
78 Yong Siak Road, #01-18, Singapore 163078

Popular Ice Cream And Waffles Cafe Opens At Tiong Bahru
Having just opened their 2nd outlet at Gillman Barracks last year, Creamier continues to set up their 3rd nest within the Tiong Bahru estate at Yong Siak Street, which is known for the booming cafes scene in the early day.
However, there is no coffee making machine here for espresso-based drinks.
Instead, pour over method ($6.50) is used on 3 single origins coffee beans – Ethiopia, Guatemala and Brazil and Cold Brew ($7) is available with coffee ice cubes.
In terms of ice cream, there are a total of 12 flavours available (a smaller selection as compared to the other outlets), interesting ones I noted included Black Glutinous Rice aka Pulut Hitam and Black Charcoal Sesame, as well as the the bestsellers include Earl Grey Lavender and Sea Salt Gula Melaka. Smooth, Sticky Italian Gelato At Arab Street And Plaza Singapura
aROMA Gelato Experience which has opened at 29 Arab Street (nearer Beach Road side) appeared to be reasonably authentic. There are stores in Jakarta, and friends have previously raved over it.
It is a gelato parlour specializing in freshly handmade gelato and coffee to go.
Unfortunately, there are no seats within the air-conditioned space inside. There are 3 small round tables set outside, but in the staggering hot weather here, what you buy is likely to melt fast.
Offerings include Vanilla Madagascar, Peppermint with Chocolate, Chocolate, Pistachio Bronte, Coconut, Rum and Raisin, Chocolate with Hazelnuts, Hazelnut Piemonte, and sorbet flavours of Mango Alphonso and Strawberry with Mint.
These change regularly though as aROMA make them fresh in small batches. aROMA Gelato Experience (Arab Street)

Singapore’s First Acai Softserve At East Coast
With so many Acai Bowl dedicated shops sprouting across Singapore, it is refreshing to see an Acai Softserve café.
Beriwell is only offering 2 items on their menu at the moment, think Superswirl (Small with 2 toppings $6.90/ Large with 4 toppings $9.90) that comes in either Acai, Coco Majik or Twist (dual flavours) and Smoothies ($5.90 – $8.90) that comes in Peanut Butter, Fruits or Avocado.
The Acai softserve was made using acai berries from the Amazon, with a very smooth (non-icy) texture and a taste of mixed berries with a hint of chocolate aftertaste. Beriwell (East Coast)
