[Bangkok] A brunch destination located in the upscale Sathorn district, Rocket Coffeebar S.12 is a cosy café that offers a casual egg dishes, sandwiches, desserts and coffee.
Unfortunately, the other branch
of Rocket Coffee Bar S49 has closed. Feeling a little sad, as it was a totally gorgeous space.
Oh well. It has also opened another grab and go concept at Thailand Cultural Center MRT station.

The Swedish owners of the Rocket Coffeebar S.12 know a thing or two about the beverage and food industry, and their café and bakery has definitely brought something new to the dining scene in Bangkok.

The interior boasts a typical Scandinavian design with an “L” shaped white marble counter, light colors that range from blue to white, and cozy seats and sofas.

Their specialty includes freshly baked pieces of bread that are served early in the morning.

Café hoppers go for their classic and signature Nordic inspired opened faced breads, with options of Gravlax Bagel (235 baht), Egg & Tuna (150 baht), Spicy Chicken (250 baht) and Roast Pork (190 baht).
For brunch dishes, you can expect Rocket’s Benedict (290 baht), Herbed Omelet (130 baht), The Scrambled (190 baht), and Egg & Soldiers (70 baht).

Eggs are so-called produced by “hill tribe hens” which are pasture-based, 100% organic-fed with space to roam freely.
What I like about this place was that the presentation of the plates – the attention to details, and Instagram-worthy. (Rocket’s website contains a blog which entry includes “Seven tips for food instagrams.” Win.)

Rocket Coffeebar is known to use produce its artisanal coffee from carefully selected small-batch roasted beans, then prepared with Synesso Hydra espresso machine (expensive equipment!).
I had the Cold Brew (120 baht for small, 320 baht for large), medium bodied, slightly acidic and fruity.

The ‘Rocket Exclusive’ Hot Cocoa (180 baht) is part-gimmickry part-substance. You are supposed to stir an Ecuadorian cocoa stick over a large cup of steam milk; the drink would slowly turn brown upon ‘stirring’, and subsequently consumed like a cup of rich cocoa.
To its credit, it did taste not bad, plus you could vary the intensity and add clotted cream.

The most recent visit, I had a Jaffa Cold Brew (150 baht) which added dark chocolate and orange foam to the refreshing cold brew coffee.
There used to be many other branches of Rocket Coffeebar – at Central Embassy, Sukhumvit Soi 49, and 72 Courtyard. Which leads me wondering, “What happened?”
S 12 wasn’t THAT crowded when I visited. Perhaps it lacked some of the character and beautiful space the others had.
