[Bangkok] If you are looking for a good café in Bangkok, Ceresia Coffee Roasters is one of the most peaceful specialty coffee shops in the bustling city.

While it is not that known to Singaporean cafe hoppers, Ceresia has a relatively strong following and is popular among the Japanese community.

While it is considered hole-in-the-wall, its location is actually quite convenient, of walking distance from EmQuartier, 5-10 minutes’ walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station.

It is a specialty coffee roaster in Bangkok offering coffees in season. They source their beans from single origin farms and cooperatives of coffee growers around the world.

The coffee shop run by two Venezuelan coffee-professional sisters who both have a background working several years at Monmouth coffee in London.

They focus on how the beans are grown and processed, and value the hard work of the coffee farmers from Asia, Central and Latin America.

Ceresia began with the Sukhumvit branch, and eventually took their famous beans and brews to Sala Daeng with a 2nd outlet.

The coffee selection is huge. Other than creating its own seasonal blend, they offer coffee beans from Asia (Thailand and India), and the Central & South America (Guatemala and Colombia).

Their coffees are carefully roasted in small batches to maintain the original flavours from their origins.

The outlet Sukhumvit is a small space with a 5-kg roaster on site.

Over at the Sala Daeng café, there are wooden chairs and long tables make the space rather warm and comfortable. Shelves containing bins of coffee beans can be seen on one end of the room. Floor to ceiling windows provide natural lighting (yellow light for evenings) while orange brick walls provide an earthy feel to the place.

It provides extra activities to its guests: Zumba classes on the 2nd floor every Saturday 10am-11am. The fee is 300 THB (SGD$12.31).

The current Seasonal Espresso Blend is Black Honey (Thailand) used as a base combined with Cachoeira de Grama (Brazil) and Beneficio Los Andes (Honduras).

The Black Honey is from a single-origin farm in Northern Thailand. It’s processed with honey and sundried on tables. It has a full body with cocoa notes, mild acidity, and a sweet aftertaste.

The Cachoeira de Grama has chocolate, walnuts and sugar cane notes, while the Beneficio Los Andes adds complexity and a fruity touch of green apple notes.

You can have your coffee hot or cold, depending on your preference.

They also serve a few pastries like quiche, cakes from Stiggy Piggy, sandwiches from Le Papin, and Marou chocolate bars.

If you love their coffee, you can buy the freshly roasted coffee beans in the store for 480THB (SGD$19.70) per 250g, or order via email. Coffee appreciation workshops are also available from time to time.

There is no Wi-Fi at Ceresia, so it is about time to put away the phone and appreciate the coffee.
