Boyle’s Coffee X Cold Brew Bar – World’s 1st Cold Brew Coffee Bar In Singapore At Suntec City

It’s a cafe? It’s a bar? It’s a coffee bar.

Boyle’s Coffee which first originated from South Korea, has opened the “The World’s First Cold Brew Coffee Bar” (as they claim) in Suntec City, right beside Korean Tteokbokki restaurant, Dookki.

This is after their dine-in cafe at Bukit Timah Plaza in 2016.

Cold brew coffee can be made via 2 methods: Cold Brew Immersion (coffee beans are immersed in water for 10-24 hours) or Cold Drip aka Dutch Coffee (icy cold water dripped over grounded beans for 12 hours).

With minimum oxidation, cold brew coffee is less acidic, less bitter, with fruity flavours and chocolatey aftertaste.

Being a cold brew takeaway bar, Boyle’s Coffee only uses cold brew coffee.

It means that there is no espresso coffee machine to be found.

With various taps, it looks exactly like a bar where beer is pumped out directly through these cool and hipster-looking equipment.

Available drinks include the Original tap for Nitro Black ($5-6) and an Esso tap for Nitro White ($6-8).

Using 100% Arabica beans, the menu is divided into 2 different types of Cold Brew: Dutch and Nitro.

Using nitrogen gas infused within the Nitro Cold Brew, the coffee comes with a layer of creamy foam on the top layer like a Guinness stout.

The menu offers drinks in 2 cups sizes (Small and Large) with a $1 difference in prices and a selection of Black ($4/5), White ($5/6) and Flavoured White ($6/7) such as Vanilla, Hazelnut and Caramel.

The exact menu applies for both the Dutch Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew, with the latter at an additional $1.

Only the Dutch Cold Brew is available in both Hot and Iced.

Wait, what’s a hot cold brew? Isn’t it contradicting?

It just means that the coffee is extracted using cold water for 12 hours, but prepared hot just before serving to customers.

Coffee preparation is much faster and I got my cup within a minute after ordering as my Nitro Caramel Latte (Small $7/ Large $8) is prepared from the tap.

Very smooth and creamy texture with refreshing notes even though the fizzy soda-like sensation that I expected wasn’t really distinct.

I personally feel that they can add less ice to it as it dilutes the creaminess of the nitro layer, which almost disintegrates within a few minutes.

The hot Dutch Latte ($5/6) was similar to other latte, smoother and less acidic due to its cold brewing method.

Suntec City is probably a strategic location as finding a good coffee place (sans the big coffee chains) can be pretty tough.

I will probably come back for their Nitro Cold Brew as it is something unique and convenient for people in a rush due to the shorter waiting time.
