Many coffee drinkers working in the CBD have given Alchemist at International Plaza a thumbs up for their quality coffee and beans.
Some of the reviews went, ”Some of the best coffee I’ve had in Singapore (I’m fussy).”, to ”Coffee is super sick here. Just got back from Melbourne, and I daresay the coffee here is better than anything I’ve had there.
Which is indeed high praise.
Alchemist has opened its 2nd branch at Hong Leong Building, opposite Market Street Interim Hawker Centre.
The coffee shop is an off-shoot of Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters at Upper Thomson – which is also related to coffee roaster and cafe Pacamara in Thailand.
However, only people in-the-know will know where to head to as it is located within Hong Leong Building.
The vibes are no-fuss, and people come here mainly for a take-away. There are two benches along the side of the walls for a short respite between meetings.
Prices range from $3.00 from an espresso, $4.50 for a white or black, to $5.50 for an Ice White.
Two blends were available when I visited – Dark Matter which was bold and nutty, or Las Nubes with plum and chocolate notes.
I had an Iced Flat White ($5.50) with the Dark Matter blend.
There are many things I liked about this coffee. It was strong and robust – suitable for those who need to remain alert at Raffles Place.
I find many coffees in Singapore leaning towards the acidic side, but the folks at Alchemist know how to strike that balance.
