“Hei Kim” means “black gold” in Chinese dialect. In normal circumstances that means “petroleum”, but the owners wanted that to represent the value of coffee.
This is a cozy lifestyle café, with shelves selling knick knacks produced by many local designers, from bags, accessories, handphone covers to inspirational cards.
That was a period where many cafes also doubled-up as small retail stores (a couple of years back), but many were slowly phased out.
However, I would see the effort taken by Hei Kim Café to curate the retailers and items, which would appeal to those who want to get unique gifts and accessories.
Still in the soft launch phase, you can expect coffee and tea by pot.
Other brunch items such as Scrambled Eggs & Toast, Smashed Eggs, Eggs Benedict and cakes will be introduced in time to come.
The menu is currently limited, but they are looking to extend it as they go along.
