Perhaps Singaporeans are getting tired of just “instagrammable food”, the NEW cafes in Singapore are looking at providing fuller meals.
Some highlights that open up this month includes the world’s first Tokidoki Café; the return of Liberty Coffee Bar after an absence of 4 years; and vegan cafe HRVST by Kilter Avenue in the CBD.
Other than the more familiar names, I make a point to also feature some of the unknown or hidden ones, such as Rakki Bowl within Candour Coffee at Beach Road; Two+2 at Choa Chu Kang; and The Cook & The Barista within a less-visited Sultan Plaza.

Tokidoki, which translates to “sometimes” in Japanese, is an internationally-recognised and iconic lifestyle brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners, serial entrepreneurs Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold.
With a menu designed by @littlemissbento, recommended items include Donutella & Sweet Friends Japanese Curry ($25.90), Moofia-Protected Pressed Sushi Rice ($24.90), A Lot-of-Things LAH! Merlion Seafood Ramen ($28.90), and SANDy and Polpettina Full-of-Life Chicken Katsu Burger ($23.90).

Popular Cafe Is Back After 4 Years
After 4 years of absence, the NEW Liberty Coffee Bar is back and located at 387 Jalan Besar, steps away from Kam Leng Hotel.
Other than its signature coffee blends, there is a “simple but focused” food menu consisting of pastas, sandwiches and finger foods.
Unfortunately, the previously-popular Lemon Poppy Cake and Gular Melaka Café won’t be available anymore.
Offerings include Rodeo Hero Sandwich ($14) with Angus beef and homemade bacon & onion jam; Hot Butt Sub ($13) filled with Cubano-style pork hind; Ragu on Ribbons ($15) – a papardelle pasta in rich tomato-based beef & pork sauce; and Blue & Shells ($13) – pasta shells cooked with Gorgonzola cheese.
Good to have you back, Liberty. Liberty Coffee Bar (Jalan Besar)

Fruit Vinegar Tea Shop From Taiwan Opens At Northpoint City
True Boss 醋頭家 is the first fruit vinegar specialty tea shop in Singapore, a brand which hails from Taiwan.
The popular chain store specialises in fruit vinegar, bubble tea, fruit smoothies and vinegar yogurt.

For those of you who have yet to try Fruit Vinegars or may not like the tangy ones, I would suggest going for the Vinegar Tea which are less intense and more delicate on the vinegar aspect.
If not, there is always the Brown Sugar Bubble Milk – loved this. True Boss 醋頭家 (Northpoint City)

Vegan Restaurant & Bar In The CBD, Beautiful Space
HRVST, short for “Harvest”, is a vegan restaurant at OUE Downtown Gallery launched by boutique gym Kilter Avenue.
You can imagine that the owners probably envisioned a lifestyle concept, in which one can work out; make like-minded friends; and have healthy, tasty vegan food at the same place.
HRVST’s menu is 100% vegan – no milk, eggs or animal products used, divided into appetisers, mains and desserts.
There is only a couple of selection in each course, with some of the recommendations including Soy Satay with peanut sauce and veggie chip ($10); BKT (Bak Kut The) Barley Risotto ($16); Pumpkin Gonocchi in Tomyum Broth ($16); Sourdough with nut spread ($14); ending with desserts of Matcha Ice Cream with Blood Orange Puree ($8) and Caramelised Pineapple Ring with Clove Ice Cream ($8).

The menu is much leaner here, serving Single Origins ($9), Cold Brew ($7.20 – $8),Black Coffee sch as Americano ($5.20) and Caffe Latte ($6.20). Price seems to be a dollar to two more expensive than the average 3rd wave coffee shop.

Café With Gochuchang Pasta And Truffle Poké Bowls, At Manulife Centre
For those working and studying around Bras Basah, Ta-da! The Bistro has opened at Manulife Centre.
This may appeal to the office crowd around the area and students from Singapore Management University, School of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts – which are all a short walk away.
The bistro-cafe is said to be where you can find delicacies such as caviar and ebiko at accessible prices.
The mains served included Corn Fed Chicken ($17.90), Iberico Pork Burger ($19.90), Wagyu Burger ($21.90), Pan Fried Salmon ($21.90), Iberico Pork ($23.90), and Wagyu Striploin ($24.90) along with pasta dishes of Al Fungi ($16), Cold Pasta ($16), Salmon and Ebiko ($18) and Chicken Teriyaki ($16). Ice-Cream & Waffles Café With Free Toppings
The latest addition to Choa Chu Kang is Two+2, a small and cosy ice-cream parlour that has made its home at Sunshine Place.
The menu here is pretty modest, with just a small selection of coffee, iced teas and waffles to accompany the ice-cream.
Out of the 18 flavours available, 16 are fixed while the other two are rotated once every two days in order to give repeat customers something to look forward to.
Some of the choices I spotted that day include Cookies and Cream, Taro Yam & Coconut, Pistachio, Mango Sorbet, Earl Grey, Strawberry Cheesecake and D24 Durian.
Regardless of flavours, a scoop of ice-cream starts at $3.20 and gets further discounted with every additional scoop. Two+2 (Choa Chu Kang)

Despite its name, the most memorable item to me was the cake – a Pandan Gula Mela Cheesecake with coconut shavings.
