C.Through 씨스루 – Works Of Art On Coffee Created By Charming Korean Oppa Barista, At Itaewon Seoul

[Seoul] Known for its happening nightlife, Itaewon is also home to many lavish pubs, bistros and not forgetting to mention, coffee spots.

C.Though has been on my to-go list for one particular reason – the hand-drawn lifelike “Cream Art” created by Korean barista Lee Kang Bin (@leekangbin91).

The barista has garnered a huge following on Instagram for his impressive cream art creations, and perhaps for his good looks as well.

Ranging from drawing animals, flowers, pokemon, Korean artistes to even art compositions like Mona Lisa and Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night, he demonstrates artistic flair and creativity on another different level.

Talent is one thing, he is also known to be quite charming.

My female friends who knew I was at his café even requested me to take photo of their Korean Oppa.

The basic design Cream Art (7,500 KRW, SGD9.40) is an espresso shot covered with a layered of cream for the barista to work his drawing magic.

My order was a cherry blossom tree (10,000 KRW, SGD12.50) which turned out incredibly lifelike and visually appealing.

Not forgetting to mention that the espresso shot also had a floral note to further tickle my taste sensory.

Due to popular demand, usually only 1 or 2 drawing designs are available and changes periodically. Pricing also varies in accordance to design complication.

I also tried other innovative coffee creations like the Scotchno (6,000 KRW, SGD7.50), where they infused butterscotch candy into coffee to give a buttery fragrance that complemented well with coffee aroma.

In addition, I liked how they present their creation by deliberately overflowing the coffee for more wow factor.

For any sweet tooth, go for the Caramelting (8,000 KRW, SGD10) which came with flame-torched caramel custard choux on coffee.

Apparently, I was supposed to crack the choux and dip it into the coffee for maximum enjoyment. I had mine separately to prevent myself from making a mess.

If coffee isn’t really your thing, dessert offerings like Tiramisu (8,000 KRW, SGD10) are also available.

I loved how their version was not overly sweet despite being generously sprinkled with cocoa powder, and ladyfingers soaked rich with coffee and alcohol flavour.

Definitely high on caffeine after all the coffee overdose.
