June looks set to be a really busy month, at least for me.
I thought May was ‘easy’ enough and I had time to slowly explore most of the NEW cafes and restaurants, till all the major food events came along.
There were Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar and Artbox Singapore 2018 (busy, sweaty, madness running around, shooting and eating).
Big brand names are opening up in Singapore in June, which include the very first My Melody Café in Singapore, Llao Llao’s return, Tsui Wah Restaurant at Clarke Quay, and Benjamin Barker Cafe – Support local!
(Just to digress: Someone asked me how many NEW F&B businesses have opened in Singapore the last 1-2 month. Without exaggerating, I have a list of 50-60 places and there are probably many more.)
Here are the 12 NEW Cafés In Singapore June 2018, compiled for you. Enjoy!

Benjamin Barker Cafe
Cathay Cineleisure Orchard 8 Grange Road #01-01 Singapore 239695
Opening Hours: 11am – 10ppm (Mon – Thurs), 11am – 12am (Fri), 10am – 12am (Sat), 10am – 10pm Sun
Home-grown Fashion Label Starts A Café
One of my favourite menswear brand Benjamin Barker has opened a new cafe at Level 1 of Orchard Cineleisure, replacing the defunct B Burger (That’s fast).
That means Benjamin Barker is occupying 3 levels of that section of the building, and is planning to convert the whole section to a lifestyle concept store and cafe.
The menu is quite extensive, offering a selection of salads, soups, mains, pastas, burgers and pizza. Those of you who missed B Burger can grab hold of Mr BB ($19) – angus patty with caramelised onion and portobello mushroom; or a Surf & Turf Burger ($19).
As for the mains, the Southern Fried Chicken ($18), Fish & Chips ($18), Ocean Catch ($20) and Grilled Iberico Pork ($21) should be crowd-favourites. Probably Orchard Road’s most stylish new cafe.

Clan Café
31 Bukit Pasoh Road Singapore 089845
Tel: +65 6320 9180
Opening Hours: 10am – 10pm (Mon – Sat), Closed Sun
Perhaps The Most Beautiful Café To Open This Year
Clan Café is located on the ground floor of Straits Clan – a members’ only club; and the space used to house New Majestic Hotel.
It was indeed a space I liked immediately upon walking in, actually from the moment I saw the Instagram account – and this is when reality looked as pleasant as the gallery on social media.
In terms of food offerings, you get nourishing bowls, salads, soups, brunch items (all available till 6pm), and bar snacks (available from 6pm till late).
The Otah Sandwich ($16) though slightly on the pricey side, was the best thing I had there – of soft brioche that came with a light crisp, sandwiched with a slab of mackerel and prawns otah. Clan Café (Bt Pasoh)

Earlybird Café
17 Jalan Pinang Singapore 199149 (Bugis MRT)
Tel: +65 9788 6856
Opening Hours: 10am – 10pm (Mon – Fri), 9am – 11pm (Sat), 9am – 10pm (Sun)
Bird Themed Café With Decadent Fried Chicken & Pancakes
Owned by the team behind Revelry at Lor Kilat, some of the enticing items on the menu included Chicken & Pancakes ($19), King’s Brekkie ($24) – essentially the big breakfast of grilled sausage, scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon and other stuff, Truffle Shrooms ($17), Crumbed Eggs On Toast ($18), and Steak & Truffle Mash ($24).
Who could resist Chicken & Pancakes?
I seriously thought this is one of the most decent renditions I had of late – the chicken came in crisp, chunky, juicy, pieces on top of pancakes with texture I never had before. Earlybird (Jalan Pinang)

Opening Hours: 10am – 8pm (Tues – Sat), 10am – 5pm (Sun), Closed Mon
Bakery Cafe At North Bridge Road
A bakery has quietly opened at North Bridge Road, and those in the know would have already snapped up their bakes.
True enough, when I visited late afternoon, most of their items have already been sold out.
Mother Dough Bakery had been appearing in various pop-up events previously, and has finally opened its own shop. It is diagonally opposite, a short walk away from Sultan Mosque.
The person helming the kitchen actually had its humble beginnings and training from New York City.
Owner and baker Naadhira started her bread education at The International Culinary Institute in NYC, and spent four years working in various bakeries in the Big Apple. Mother Dough Bakery (North Bridge Road)

This Secret Artsy Café ‘Transports’ You To Taiwan
The moment I set my eyes on the space, it was as if I was transported back to Taiwan’s café like Monga Coffee Roasters 丸花豆倉 and Jack & NaNa Coffee Store.
This is the type of place they could have shot a 小幸运 MTV.
Every single detail – the coffee counter, décor layout and the owner brewing coffee was very much on point with the 文青 (literary arts) flair.
There were also a small selection of cakes baked in-house by the lady owner and cake flavor changes on a regular basis.
I was very much sold to their Black Sesame Chiffon ($8) which came soft, fluffy and infused with black sesame fragrance. Topped with a layer of sesame cream which further enhanced its flavor. Katasumi Koohii 一隅珈琲 (Bukit Pasoh)

Unicorn Molten Cookie With Rainbow Lava And Ice Cream
Kooks Creamery has launched a new version – Build Your Own Unicorn Lava Set ($10).
The café is known for serving up molten lava Kooks (which are actually cookies) topped with a scoop of ice cream.
The Unicorn Lava Cookie ($10) is a build-your-own set, which means you get to ‘paste’ the eyes, horn and ears on your own.
Whether the unicorn looks ugly or not, you can only blame it yourself.
As the ice cream fell on top, the cookie broke apart, and seeped out rainbow-coloured lava. Kooks Creamery (The Cathay)

Carnival Themed Café With Unicorn Waffles
The folks behind Hatter Street Bakehouse and Café have opened yet another dessert café in the heartlands.
The concept at Sir Stamford Waffles mimics that of Hatter Street and their now-defunct café Oh My Tian – carnival-like colours and theme and all things whimsical.
The lot of Signature Waffles mostly come with fixed ice cream flavours and toppings, but
to customize your ice cream flavours, you can opt for the Sir Stamford Waffles ($12.50) which comes with a choice of 2 scoops of ice cream and a sauce.

Forty Hands – East Coast
226 East Coast Road Singapore 428923
Opening Hours: 7:30am – 5pm
NEW Branch At East Coast Road
The NEW 40 Hands is located at 226 East Coast Road, a stretch peppered with eateries selling chicken rice and Korean cuisine.
The café was named 40 Hands because 20 people are required in the production of its coffee, from plant to cup.
Other than coffee, the café at East Coast will serve up brunch items such as Smashed Avo on Toast, Eggs Benedict, Homemade Granola, Banana Bacon French Toast and Eggs Cocotte.
I always go for the Tau Sar Pau – not cheap, but somehow extra fluffy, not too sweet, and goes well with a Cold Brew. Forty Hands (East Coast)

Small Friendly Cafe With Delicious Avocado Toast
Maxi Coffee Bar is a hole-in-the-wall hidden within Emerald Garden. This is like your friendly neighbourhood joint, with people greeting you with a loud “Hi”, and looks set to have regulars from the CBD district.
The menu is lean for now, with coffee offerings of Black ($4), White ($4 – 6), Iced Cereal Milk Latte ($7.50), and Coconut Cold Brew ($7.50).
The Iced Cereal Milk Latte is their version of breakfast-in-a-cup, with malty milk at the bottom soaked for that taste of breakfast, and shots of expresso within. Maxi Coffee Bar (Club Street)
