Opened along one of the shophouses in Katong directly opposite to Sinpopo Brand, Homeground Coffee Roasters is a cafe with an art gallery, retail space and coffee beans roastery within.

Tall ceilings with industrial-like design, the corridor near to the entrance is shaped in an elongated manner with art paintings hanging on the walls.
There are 16 seats underneath them.

I found it intriguing that the seats are positioned facing the walkway, which may result in awkwardness if your eyes happen to meet someone sitting opposite you (unless it is someone you like).

The menu is short and concise, with coffee such as Black ($4.50), White ($4.50/$5.50), Filter Coffee ($6), Cold Brew ($5), Mocha ($6.50) and Hot Chocolate ($6).
An extra espresso shot or the Iced version is available at an additional $0.50.
2 options for the coffee beans are available: Vanta (blend of 50% Brazil, 50% Colombia) recommended for espresso-based drinks and Las Esperanza, Cacua Valley (single origin from Colombia) for filtered coffee.

I had the 4oz White ($4.50) with the recommended Vanta, which was smooth, full bodied, not too acidic, yet with a nutty tone (supposedly almond, dark chocolate and hazelnut).
Currently on the pastries menu, there are only brownies, blondies and tea cakes supplied by The Bakery by Woodlands Sourdough.

The Rhubarb – White Chocolate Blondie was dense, moist and crumbly at the same time, coupled with citrusy rhubarb and sweet white chocolates to balance the flavours.
While the portion is definitely quite filling on its own, I am looking forward to savoury options instead.
And we heard that bagels from Two Men Bagel House will be made available real soon.

Apart from the coffee and pastries available, the paintings on the wall are available for purchase and are made by one of the owners using coffee bean powder.
Interesting.

The retail corner also features some merchandises such as T-shirt, brewing kettle and chocolate from local chocolate company, Fossa, which can be found in their Mocha and Hot Chocolate.
Homeground Coffee Roasters is a space where people will feel at home, with like-minded coffee lovers gathering together for a simple cup of Joe.
