[Closing] Those who intend to have a “Lion King” pre-theatre meal at Marina Bay Sand’s Osteria and Pizzeria Mozza have to do by the end of the month.

The two restaurants have announced their impending closures, and will officially cease operations with effect from Friday, 27 July 2018.

The restaurants were previously founded by Italian-American chef Mario Batali and American restaurateur Joe Bastianich, in partnership with American chef Nancy Silverton (I met her before – super nice lady.)
Osteria Mozza has been one of the most critically acclaimed restaurant in the integrated resorts filled with celebrity restaurants, once awarded Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants and one of “The 10 best restaurants in Singapore” by Elite Traveler.

While the official reason for closure was not given, several of Mario Batali’s restaurants have been affected after allegations of sexual misconduct against the celebrity chef.
Tarry Market, an upscale European grocery store operated by Mario Batali’s B&B Hospitality Group has closed for good in June.
Three other high-profile restaurants located on the Las Vegas Strip – Carnevino Italian Steakhouse, B&B Ristorante, and Otto Enoteca e Pizzeria, will also close permanently on July 27.

In case you are wondering, the current restaurant space will reopen as Nostra Cucina.
“Nostra Cucina”, which means “Our Kitchen”, will showcase the creations of executive chef Peter Birks, executive pastry chef Ariana Flores and their team.
The food will focus on Italian regional classics, cooked using “the best produce from around the world”.
