Alley on 25 at Andaz Singapore is all about “dining in the sky”, housing different restaurants in one place, boosting stunning city views.

A short walk away from Bugis MRT station, it is so named because the culinary hub is located on Level 25 of Andaz Singapore.

With its floor-to-ceiling windows, you can look out at the heritage Bugis area, City Hall, or the downtown CBD depending on which restaurant you are dining at.

The concept is quite unique and varied from any others in Singapore, with 5 restaurants, one lounge and a bar all housed within the same floor.

Each restaurant comes with an individual shophouse-inspired décor, specializing in a particular style of preparation from Singapore style tze char, oven-baked food, to Modern-Asian barbecue fare.

The culinary team is led by Chef Raj Kumar, who was previously from Michelin-starred CUT, by Wolfgang Puck.

Prices of the food are kept affordable and value-driven, with the offering of Set Lunches which include appetisers, main dishes and desserts for $25. My own personal recommendation would be the all-you-can-eat Salad from Icehaus’s Salad Lounge priced at $18.

Keen to find out more? Here are the 5 restaurants found at Alley on 25, and their recommendations:

Auntie’s Wok and Steam
All-day Dining: 12:00pm – 10:00 pm (Mon – Sun)

Singapore style tze char food with Szechuan influences
The restaurant for tze-char dishes with umami-flavours and wok-hei.

Auntie’s Wok and Steam’s menu is divided into Soup, Seafood, Vegetables, Rice, Noodles, Dumplings, Meat and Desserts; and diners can catch chefs preparing their food at the wok and steamer stations.

Highlights include Wanton Soup ($14), Double-boiled Kampong Chicken Broth ($14), Ma Po Silken Tofu with Alaskan King Crab Meat ($30), Kung Po Chicken ($25), Dan Dan Mian ($18), and Organic Fried Rice ($18) cooked with both white and brown rice, crab meat, egg, asparagus and Sarawak pepper.

DFD Recommends: Double Boiled Beef Short Rib Noodles ($22)
This is when you are craving for a hearty bowl of melt-in-the-mouth beef short ribs with la-mian style egg noodles, in spicy beef soup cooked with aromatics.

While the broth is “Szechuan” base, it was very manageable in terms of the spice levels. You can request for more chilli if you need more “oomph”.

The Green Oven
Breakfast 6:30am – 10:30am (Mon – Fri); 7:00am – 11:00am (Sat – Sun)
Lunch 12:00pm – 2:30pm (Mon – Sun)
Dinner 6:00pm – 10:00pm (Mon – Sun)

Comfortable, hearty meals prepared from a green Beech oven
The Green Oven is so named because its dishes served are cooked from a giant green Beech oven in the heart of its kitchen.

Therefore, you can expect family style, comforting food, many of which are Mediterranean-styled.

Signature dishes include Black Mussels ($35), Braised Lamb Shank ($35), Braised Beef Short Rib ($35), Braised Osso Buco – veal shanks braised with vegetables ($35), Roasted Atlantic Salmon ($28) and Beef Lasagne ($25).

I am sure the Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese ($35) is also calling your name.

As most of the dishes are meant for sharing, it is best to gather a few friends over to feast and wind down.

DFD Recommends: Whole Spring Chicken ($35)
Go for the piping-hot, whole oven-roasted spring chicken, stuffed with aromatics such as thyme, and accompanied with bacon lardon, chat potatoes and Pommery mustard sauce.

I found it incredibly tender and juicy, tasty as the oven-cooking has locked in all the flavours.

A Half Spring Chicken is also available for Set Lunch ($25), which includes an appetizer (soup or baby gem salad/heirloom beetroot salad), and dessert of ice cream of the day.

Smoke & Pepper
Lunch 12:00pm – 2:30pm; Dinner 6:00pm– 10:00pm (Mon – Fri)

Wholesome burgers, quality meats and fresh seafood grilled over open charcoal
Smoke & Pepper is the largest dining destination at Alley on 25, which features modern Asian food grilled over open-fire.

Popular choices are the meats, such as the Black Angus Beef Skewers with soy-mirin glaze and shishito peppers ($35), Marinated Boneless Wagyu Short Rib ($45), Pork Ribs ($30) and Steak Frites ($35).

The Miso-glaze Salmon Fillet with grilled asparagus and ginger-soy dressing also comes recommended; all with enticing smoky flavours and succulence.

DFD Recommends: Black Angus Beef Burger ($18)
Classic beef burger with a tender black Angus beef patty, added with spicy tomato jam and pickled cucumber to add those touches of tanginess and spice.

The Black Angus Beef Burger, along with other options of Spiced Fish Burger and Chicken Burger, is also available as a Set Lunch ($25).

The set includes an appetizer (such as Asian Slaw and Seafood & Chicken Spring Rolls) and dessert.

Icehaus
Breakfast: 6:30am – 10:30am (Mon – Fri), 7:00am – 11:00am (Sat – Sun)
All-day dining: 10:30am – 10:00pm (Mon – Fri)

For salads, sandwiches, cold cuts and sustainable seafood
Interesting to know that the kitchen is inspired by the pre-electricity era, and so food is stored cool within wooden cabinets filled with ice slabs.

As the name “Icehaus” implies, dishes are prepared in a cold kitchen, with focus on bistro style charcuterie and chilled, fresh seafood.

What you can look forward to include freshly shucked Oyster ($30 for a dozen); Boston Lobster Soft Roll ($35); Jumbo Lump Crab ($30), Beef Tartare ($25); Heirloom Tomato Salad ($16); and Sandwiches of Toasted Ham Jaffle, Beef Pastrami, Caprese, Smoked Salmon ($14) – all made with sourdough bread from the famed Tiong Bahru Bakery.

Add $5 to the Sandwich and get a soup of the day and mini soft serve ice cream.

If you are up for desserts, do get the Pandan Chiffon Cake with vanilla soft serve ($14), a modern take of Singapore’s favourite chiffon cake with the addition of velvety mousse, in colourful variations of pandan, black sesame, durian, yam and coconut.

DFD Recommends: Icehaus Salad Lounge ($18 for lunch, $28 for dinner)
An all-you-can-eat salad treat priced affordably at $18 for lunch, in which you can fill your bowl with the freshest greens, seeds, and Mortadella Italian sausage.

Plancha’Lah!
Dinner 6:00pm – 10:00pm (Mon – Sun)

Dramatic culinary action over a plancha hot plate
The Spanish word “plancha” refers to a flat heated surface; and “la plancha” is a style of food preparation that marries high-temperature searing with intense heat and smoky flavours.

Heat is concentrated at the centre of the metal plate. Therefore you can watch the chef cooking varied ingredients simultaneously, at times shifting them around to get them cooked at different temperatures.

The dinner-only Plancha’Lah! offers set dinners, with prices starting at $65.

DFD Recommends: Set Dinner 2 ($98)
The Set Dinner 2 includes Japanese Fruit Tomato, Hokkaido Scallops, Choice of Patagonia Tooth fish “en papillote” OR Wagyu Sirloin, and a dramatic dessert of Pineapple Flambé.

The tooth fish which is a species of cod ice fish, is cooked and served in a clear cooking foil.

This is so that the flavours of the ingredients will intensify and the fish gently steams without drying out.

If you are up for a drink, head over to Bar Square to enjoy carefully crafted cocktails and spirits infused with local ingredients. The signature cocktails are priced at $18 each.

During Alley Hour promotions at 5pm to 9pm daily, guests can enjoy selected beers, wines, champagne and cocktails from $8.

Weekend Extended Lazy Breakfast at Andaz Singapore
Alley on 25 has also launched a new “lazy breakfast” that starts from 11:30am to 2:30pm every Sat, Sun and PH,

Priced affordably at $35++, guests get to enjoy Alley on 25’s breakfast buffet spread plus one à la carte dish. The a la carte dishes include several hearty breakfast classics such as Eggs Benedict, Steak and Egg prepared with Australian sirloin, Breakfast Burger, Smoked Salmon Bagel, Breakfast Quesadilla and Grilled Pastrami & Cheese sandwich.

Guests hankering after a boozy touch to their breakfast can choose to top up $5++ for free-flow Prosecco, wines, draught beer or create their own concoction of a classic mojito or other fruity combinations at a do-it-yourself mojito bar.

Kids are welcomed to join in the fun and can enjoy the breakfast spread at $17.50++ per child.
