There seems to be a trend of cafes opening up in community centres, such as Daily Affairs Dining & Bar at Cairnhill Community Club opened by an ex-Hilton Chef, and SOD at Ci Yuan Community Centre.
With this in mind, I try to search for such cafes that nobody has written about – so that you know.

This brought me to The Living Room Eating House located at Leng Kee Community Club, which is a 10 to 15 minutes’ walk away from Redhill MRT station.

The café occupied quite a big space with friendly-cosy vibes, popular with families (you just pray that the children don’t cry too loudly and run around).
I can imagine that if customers can come in during non-peak hours to have a kopi and read a book.

Seems to be operated by a family, the café has rather personable service and serves up local delights in the likes of Nasi Lemak (from $3), Mee Siam ($3.50), Prawn Noodles ($4, $5, $6), Big Prawn Noodles ($8, $10), Bak Kut Teh ($6.5), and Chee Cheong Fun ($2).
These are your coffee shop pricing, or maybe just that 1 to 2 dollars more, with aircon-comfort.

When I ordered a couple of items with 2 drinks, I was once again pleasantly surprised that the bill came up just slightly above $10.
Wait, this cannot even buy one (or maybe half) eggs ben at another café.

The server highly recommended the Prawn Noodles which came with generous ingredients. I thought it had a “homely” feel, as though a lovely ah-ma or mother prepared it.
Thus, its weakest link was perhaps the soup – not as robust and hot as what you would get in a hawker centre. But it was not too bad.

As for the Economic Bee Hoon (starts from $1), it was good-standard fare that would appeal to those who prefer your food to be not that oily and greasy.

If I stay in the vicinity, this would be my go-to place for simple local food, other than the Redhill 85 Food Centre.
