It is undeniable that the bubble tea trend has returned once again. (Of course I remember during my teenager years when it was a must-have to have these drinks, until the bubble burst.)
“Bubble tea” is no longer the same as it is the past, as brands are finding ways to chut-pattern – from the rainbow coloured or ombre drinks, cheese milk tea, to the recent Brown Sugar milk craze in which many shops continue to enjoy long lines.
I wonder if the folks at HPB drink their bubble tea. Anyway, as 2019 is here, and everyone’s focus is on going healthy and losing weight once again, here’s a look at the Fruit Teas available in Singapore.
The Fruit Teas which are packed with fruits, looking all colourful in tall cups, make them attractive drink for takeaways.
My recommendation is always to go for the minimum sugar, so that you can taste the natural flavours of both the tea and sweetness from fruits.

Of the fruit tea range introduced by HEYTEA in Singapore, I suspect that the Grapefruit Boom Tea 满杯红柚 ($5.90) would end up to be one of the most popular.
The jasmine green tea (Aqua Green) has subtly sweet and fragrant notes, and the slices of grapefruit added shines through with that burst of sharp-fruitiness.

My favourite cup from the Nayuki’s “Supreme Fresh Fruit Tea” series is the Supreme Mixed Fruits 霸气缤纷水果 ($5.90).
It is especially refreshing with various elements from the different fruits – citrusy-sweetness from the orange slices, crisp-fruitiness from watermelon, and passionfruit providing that light tartness.
If not, you can get the Supreme Orange 霸气橙子 ($6.50). The cup that ensure you get your Vitamin C. Every cup actually consists of 2 whole oranges – a fruit one sliced, and the other freshly squeezed into juice.
This juice is then blast-frozen from Taiwan, for maximum nutrients and taste before it is imported into Singapore. Nayuki 奈雪の茶 (Vivocity)

ARTRA’s Signature Fruit Tea ($8.20) is probably the fruit tea with the most variety of fruits in a single cup – all seven of them.
These include watermelon, rock melon, strawberries, mango, orange, passionfruit, and lime. Though yes, it is slightly pricey.
A mixture of orange juice and quality “Four Seasons Spring Oolong” 四季春 is used as the base – so named because the tea produces four flushes (or harvests) each year that still have the flavour of a spring flush.
The fragrant tea has a light floral aroma of spring flowers, and clean and sweet aftertaste, which makes it ultra-refreshing in the hot Singapore weather.

In TaiGai’s “Fresh Fruit Tea” 鲜果茶 category, there are offerings of Fresh Lemon Burst (Black Tea) 鲜果柠檬红茶 （红茶）, Fresh Golden Kumquat Burst 鲜果金桔柠檬, Fresh Premium Orange Burst 满满特级橙子 , Kiwi-Nata de Coco Burst 满满奇异椰果茶 and Fresh Green Lemon Burst (Green Tea) 鲜果绿柠檬 （绿茶）.
The recommended drink is the Fresh Premium Orange Burst ($5.90), in which the fruits are freshly sliced (via a machine), which helps retain the natural fragrance and sweetness.

The popular chain store which originated from Tainan specialises in fruit vinegar, bubble tea, fruit smoothies and vinegar yogurt.
A recommended is the Apple Vinegar with Fruits ($3.90, $4.90). The fruits used to make the vinegar include apple, plum, peach, cranberry and grape (limited), to produce flavours which remind customers of the original fruit.

My favourite was the Signature Fruit Tea ($5.90) which comes with Four Seasons Tea and fresh pineapple pulp as the base, topped with lime, watermelon, a slice of lemon and green apple.

While most tea places are meant for takeaway, Kurotaki Chabann at Rangoon Road has a cozy setup for heart-to-heart conversations – after your Bak Kut Teh meal nearby.
