The Alley 斜角巷 – Popular For Brown Sugar Bubble Milk And “Aurora Drinks” In Taiwan, Coming To Singapore Soon

[Taipei] Come, come, come. All the major bubble tea brands are coming to Singapore.

After HEYTEA, Nayuki, Tiger Sugar, TP-Tea, TenRen Tea, Yi Fang Tea, we will also be expecting Jenjudan 珍煮丹 and… The Alley 鹿角巷.

(Xing Fu Tang 幸福堂, when is your turn?)

Anyway, The Alley (sometimes called “Diagon Alley”) which has opened in many cities, is mostly called 鹿角巷, and 斜角巷 in Taiwan and Malaysia.

The Alley first started from Taichung, Taiwan, and has one main outlet in central Taipei. They are strong in their social media marketing, which really aided in their popularity.

The brand’s concept is considered more modern and trendy, with other very photo-worthy ombre drinks on the menu like matcha latte, all served in their unique rounded base cups.

Their menu is divided into “series”, from Milk Tea, Tea Latte, Original Brewed Tea, Brown Sugar Deerioca, Blended to the photogenic Aurora Series – appropriately named Morning Dawn and Northern Lights.

If you are looking out for their top drinks, they are the Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk, No. 3 Alley Milk Tea, Lemon Guava Juice, Royal No.9 Series and Lemon Milk.

There are some unique features about The Alley.

They make their own sugar cane syrup, and boil sugar canes in-house to create sweetness that won’t be overpowering.

Also they make their “Deerioca” (tapioca pearls named after their iconic deers) from scratch, from making the dough, kneading and rolling into small balls.

The process is said to create better texture and aroma for the tapioca pearls.

Their Brown Sugar Deerioca Series includes Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk, Cocoa Milk Matcha Milk and Crème Brulee Milk (NT$55 – NT$65, SGD2.40 – SGD2.90).

Of all the Brown Sugar Milk I tried in Taipei, I would place theirs among the Top 5.

It was mostly due to the chewy QQ boba pearls with slight brown sugar sweetness, and smooth refreshing milk.

However, they lacked that bit of strong, distinct caramel flavour that some of the other brands had.

#ForTheGram Instagrammers would want to get their hands of the Aurora Series, with offerings of Morning Sunshine and Northern Lights (both NT$88, SGD3.90).

Pretty to look at, sweet to drink.

The Alley is confirmed coming to Singapore, looking out here for updates.
