Once you enter the restaurant, you may understand why. The interior was over-the-top, designed like an olden tea house with hundreds of hanging lanterns, which may take you back to the olden China a hundred years ago.
If you are at loss on what to order, the Nanjing Impression recommendations include Jinling Signature Salted Duck ($16.80 for small), Jinling Roast Duck ($16.80 for small), Chilled Drunken Virgin Red Crayfish (small) ($19.80 for small), Poached “Lion’s Head” Meatball ($13.80), Honey-glazed Stuffed Lotus Root ($12.80) and Celestial Roast Duck Dumplings ($5.80 for 3 pieces) which look like a basket of Xiao Long Bao.
Signature Dish: Madam Chiang’s Nutritious Beauty Porridge ($6.80)
The dish, named after Madam Chiang Kai-shek (Soong Mei-Ling) is a healthy and nutritious porridge. Madam Chiang, known for both her beauty and longevity, often had this dish.
This particular porridge uses traditional ingredients known for their whitening and beneficial effects on the complexion, such as glutinous rice, soy milk, fresh Chinese yam, lily bulbs and rock sugar.
Therefore interestingly, you may feel it is like a dessert due to its slightly sweetish finish reminding you of soybean milk.

Signature Dish: Wagyu Truffle ‘Hor Fun’ ($60)
The familiar ‘zi char’ fare of beef horfun with a luxe twist – inclusion of premium A4 grade Wagyu Beef.
When I took bites, I wonder about the crunchy bits and thought that they resembled pork lard. They turned out to be rice noodle strips, deep-fried till crispy. So you can call this horfun prepared two-ways.

Wheeler’s Yard
28 Lorong Ampas Singapore 328781
Opening Hours: 11am – 10pm (Tues – Fri), 10:30am – 10pm (Sat, Sun), Closed Mon
Wheeler’s Yard is the ‘world’ where bicycles, coffee, food and all things vintage meet.
Located right along the Whampoa park connector, this is the ‘hidden’ cafe cum bicycle workshop, known for the entrance where almost every visitor would take that token #OOTD shot.
Housed within a massive industrial warehouse, soak up the atmosphere with a good mix of classic dishes and unique dishes such as the 60°C Chicken Breast ($17.90), Suki Beef Rice Bowl ($19.90), Chilli Crab Pasta ($18.90), Iced Espresso Ball ($9), and Rasa Singapura ($7) – an iced bandung drink with a twist.
The Chilli Crab Pasta which was introduced as a National Day special became a big hit with customers, and was subsequently added permanently into the menu. Using real crab meat and egg, the sauce was cooked with the right amount of sweetness and spiciness, served with a whole softshell crab.
Signature Dish: 60deg Chicken Breast ($17.90)
The chefs managed to create a soft and moist texture to the chicken breast, a part that is usually avoided by people due to its drier nature.
It may come as a surprise that this dish does not come with any fancy sauce, because the whole idea is to enjoy the natural flavours of the chicken.
The chicken meat is simply accompanied with a serving of smooth buttery mash potato that is made from scratch (emphasized NOT from powder), grilled corn and hazelnut.
