Hokkaido gelato!!! Opps, sorry that I got too excited over this, as the very thought of having good, yummy, smooth Milkissimo gelato in Singapore can make one overly thrilled. (Read: Japanese Sweets Collection)
Milkissimo is finally here in Singapore at Jurong Westgate Isetan, offering Italian style ice cream made from premium milk produced from Hakodate city (Hokkaido’s 3rd largest city) and the freshest ingredients from Hokkaido. (Friends from Hong Kong can also get your scoops from The One at Tsim Sha Tsui.)
The brand name is a combination of ‘milk’ and ‘issimo’ which means the finest milk in Italian, though having ‘kiss’ somewhere in the middle makes it very easy to remember.
There are many out of the ordinary flavours available which makes choosing all the more difficult: fondant chocolate, northern hascup (a type of sweet berry honeysuckle), arancia rossa (blood orange), pineapple and basil, sakura cherry blossoms, cream cheese, green tea milk, caramel macchiato, fresh corn, and milk.
My combination of purple sweet potato, cherry blossom and mango were magical and almost felt like I was savouring smooth flowers and fruits. The entire cup with bright accents was like spring time, and the mango gelato where you can literally imagine the fruit, is perhaps the best I ever had.
I would use smoothly-dreamy light to describe the texture, and it was not overly sweet. Pure happiness. ($6 single scoop, $7.50 double scoops, $9 triple scoops).
(To digress, the moment I posted an instavideo at @DanielFoodDiary, people were somehow more interested in the cute Japanese server rather than the gelato. Just saying.) Anyway, Milkissmiso is in Singapore for a limited period till 6th of June. After which they would decide whether they should stay or not. You would want them to remain.
