With “circuit breaker” measures in place, you still do not have to worry about not having food, as dining establishments remain open.

You can always choose to DABAO (takeaway) or order deliveries.

There is nothing quite like our local zi char food that can comfort your soul and warm your belly.

With many zi char restaurants in Singapore offering islandwide deliveries and even promotion, food can be sent to your door-step with a few clicks.

Moral of the story: please stay at home and don’t go running around looking for your favourite zi char restaurant. Also to avoid long waiting time, you can always adjust your mealtimes to avoid peak hours (since WFH anyway with generally more flexible timings).

Other than those available on Deliveroo, GrabFood and Food Panda platforms, here are 8 of them (will include more along the way) which provide islandwide delivery. Take note that the minimum order required usually depends on your location.

Keng Eng Kee Seafood 瓊榮記海鲜
Blk 124 Bukit Merah Lane 1 #01-136, Singapore 150124

Opening Hours: 11:30am – 2:30pm, 5pm – 10pm (Mon – Sun)

Keng Eng Kee which is well liked by British Celebrity Chef James Martin and the late Anthony Bourdain, is one of Singapore’s most well-loved zi char place.

One of their recommended dishes is the Chilli and Black Pepper Crabs, in which their crab dishes were featured in Netflix’s Street Food. that actually have good service (no grumpy aunties) – prompt (in fact too prompt my dishes arrived in minutes) and friendly.

Owner Mr Liew is Malaysian who learnt his craft from his Hainanese father-in-law, and serves mainly Cantonese styled dishes.

There are a number of dishes that regulars order. The most talked-about dish is the Moonlight Horfun, along with Mingzhu Roll, Prawn Roll, Yam Basket, Coffee Pork Ris, Claypot Pig Liver, Marmite Chicken, and Salted Egg Sotong.

The Mingzhu Roll is a dish unique to Keng Eng Kee, that looked elaborate and creative for a zi-char dish.

It is fried tau pork stuffed with a variety of ingredients – salted egg yolk, prawn, ham, mushrooms and parsley served with a sweet cream sauce.

Keng Eng Kee delivers Island-wide for $5. Min order applies. Spend above $58 to redeem free soup of the day (for 2-3 pax). Use promo code KEK10 for first online order for 10% OFF.

New Ubin Seafood
30 Victoria Street CHIJMES #02-01B/C, Singapore 187996
Opening Hours: 11am – 3pm, 5:30pm – 10:30pm (Mon – Sun)
Delivery Online: http://order.newubinseafood.com

New Ubin Seafood has been considered as one of Singapore’s favourite zhi char restaurant, known for its unique dishes such as US Black Angus Ribeye Beef, Heart Attack Fried Rice and Boss Bee Hoon.

One may not have expected an ‘ang moh’ dish from a zhi-char restaurant, but the USDA Choice Black Angus Ribeye Half-Cut (300g) has been one of their top-sellers.

The USDA Choice Black Angus Ribeye would be grilled, added with sea salt flakes and separate dip of mustard.

The succulent, bold-flavoured beef pieces still retained its usual standard, though I would personally wish for some caramelised onions and potato wedges to pair along.

For deliveries, perhaps you can try the Fried Hokkien Mee Special – wet, gooey, and the gravy well encompassed the savoury flavours of rich prawn stock.

25% OFF lunch and dinner. Promo code 25OFF. Valid for takeaway as well.

Diamond Kitchen
87 Science Park Dr #01-01 Oasis Singapore 118260

Opening Hours: 11am – 2:30pm, 5:30pm – 10:30pm (Mon – Sun)

There are some reasons for its success: positive reviews from critics and bloggers, and a fairly interesting variety of Singapore meets Malaysian zi char dishes.

For those who have yet to try their food, their recommended dishes include Sauna Prawns, Three Eggs Chinese Spinach, Champagne Pork Ribs, Superior Chicken Soup, Gan Xiang Fried Rice, Pumpkin Beancurd, Diamond Gan Xiang Crab, Garlic Steamed Bamboo Clams, Salted Egg Sotong, and Hong Kong Steamed Fish.

Diamond Kitchen’s Salted Egg Sotong was crispy deep fried, dusted with some spicy powder, evenly tossed in salted yolk mix, and did not taste overly chewy.

$8 Delivery charges with minimum spending of $50 Nett.

Tel: +65 9790 5682
Opening Hours: 5:00pm – 10:30pm (Mon – Sun)

The star dish of Long Ji is unquestionably the Crab Bee Hoon (seasonal price).

Its appeal is partly the robustly appealing gravy, cooked with crabs, cabbage and oyster sauce with a peppery aroma. Plus point, no MSG or chicken powder are used in the stock.

If you like your Crab Bee Hoon semi-wet (okay, more wet than dry), this is for you.

You would notice that both the beehoon and gravy are in a light brown colour. That is because Chef would fry the vermicelli all the way till almost to a point of getting burnt. Full of wok hei.

There are other dishes such as zhi char dishes, from Sambal Kang Kong, Minced Pork Omelette, Shrimp Roll and Singapore Fried Bee Hoon which are not bad.Long Ji Zi Char (Outram Road)
