Ever since I tried Yomie’s Rice x Yogurt 有米酸奶 in Sydney and Yanmi Yogurt in Singapore (at Funan), I gotten slightly hooked on these purple rice yogurt drinks.
HAYO is the newest addition in town, located at Middle Road, next to Captain K and walking distance from Bugis Junction.
The yogurt kiosk is offering 1-for-1 currently for takeaways till 30 April. (Please don’t make a trip all the way there if you are not in the vicinity at this period of time. Can always bookmark and come back in the future.)
Delivery is also available at https://www.captaink.sg/online-ordering (understandably the price is higher for deliveries, and 1-for-1s don’t apply on the delivery platform and you probably need to add on other food items to meet the minimum of $60.)
What’s special about the brand is they use 100% Australian premium cow milk specially imported, and included with various fresh ingredients.
Their drinks include Avo-Cardio ($7.70), Purple Rice Madness ($6.30), Feeling My Oats ($6.30), High Passion ($6.80), Peachy Paradise ($6.80), Yuzu Beautiful ($6.80), Strawberry Crush ($6.90), and Slim Green Shady ($6.90).
Well, the thing about such interesting names is customers may need to phantom a guess what ingredients a cup would contain – some more obvious than the others.
The one immediate thing I realised when drinking the Purple Rice Madness ($6.30) was, the consistency was not as thick as some of the other competitor brands.
If you always felt trouble finishing your yogurt purple rice drink, this was actually quite manageable – somewhere in between milk and yogurt.
On the flipside, some would prefer richer texture for their yogurt.
The purple rice was quite chewy and soft, though could be clumpy at certain parts. I would recommend giving the drink a better stir with the straw.
Also as there is a opening gap on the cover, shaking is not quite recommended.
I also had the Avo-Cardio ($7.70) and liked that it was not too sweet. However, the tanginess of the yogurt may have covered the avocado-taste which was not pronounced. Maybe an adjustment in proportions would have worked better.
On another, if you noticed that green leaf on top of the cup, that is like a butter cookie. Cute.
