Some of you may be familiar with popular online-baker Puffs and Peaks. They have been around for a while doing online bake sale, as well as making occasional appearance at pop-up events.
Good news for those who resides in the east, Puffs and Peaks has opened a bakery café at Tampines Central Community Complex.

Run by a daughter and mother duo, Puffs and Peaks produces handmade bakes in limited quantities and small batches.
Quoted a friend of mine who have been following them on IG, their custard cream donuts are highly raved by many and it was difficult to secure an order slot when they ran bake sale.

Upon entering the store, I was a little surprised to be greeted by an unexpected queue and half-emptied donut display shelf.
The patrons in front of me were buying donuts in mass quantity, and I secretly prayed hard for them to please, please leave me with some.

There were four donut flavours ($3.80 each) available at point of visit – Pandan Coconut, Matcha, Taro and Passionfruit , and the flavours rotate on a weekly basis.
I was lucky enough to snag one of each flavour, of which passionfruit was already left with just the last few solo pieces.

On first bite, I was pretty much sold.
Their donut texture was rather light and airy, dusted with sugar granules and accompanied with generously stuffed custard cream fillings.
Contrary to other donuts that usually come with denser and heavier texture, this combination was on-point and I could easily finish a donut on my own without feeling jerlat.

As a matcha lover, I liked that its matcha filling has distinctive earthy notes followed by bitter-sweet after taste.

If you are not tea person, go for the Pandan Coconut which was creamy with coconut flavour coupled with lightly infused hints of pandan fragrance.

Other than their highly raved donuts, they also produce an assortment of bakes like Bread Rolls, Cookies, Brownies and Layered Cakes.

Off the display shelf, I could identify whole loaf of Country Sourdough ($9), Brookies Cookie ($3.70), Earl Grey Blueberry Crumble Cake ($5.50) and many more.

I also took a liking to their Pear Chocolate Loaf Cake ($4.20) which was moist and not sweet, baked with dark chocolate and embedded with chunky pear fruits for the bite texture.
For first day opening, business was brisk and there were constantly people coming in to do takeaways.

“Do you have Cinnamon Rolls?”, was another frequently heard question from the queuing patrons. Seems like they really DO have a following and the patrons know their stuff well.
Now I will have to find another opportunity to return to camp for cinnamon rolls.

Point to note: Tampines Central Community Complex is not the same location as Our Tampines Hub and can be reached by taking bus 69 from Tampines bus interchange.
