Presenting a total of 4 Festival Log Cakes this year at the Intercontinental Singapore, the Lemon Strawberry Pistachio Yule Log ($108) is the scene stealer with its unique circular shape and vibrant colours.

If you are in for some tangy-fruitiness, this Christmas-green cake comprises of lemon mousse, strawberry jelly and pistachio crunch – looking attractive even when cut across with its layers.

Packed with a fruity and citrusy punch which complemented well with an earthly, nutty taste from the pistachio crunch, this is overall light, fluffy and not too sweet as well.

A refreshing treat for that year end celebration.

The other 3 Log Cakes are made in the classic log-shaped manner; varied flavours with something for everybody.

They include the Mont Blanc Yule log ($120), Classic Chocolate Yule log ($108), and Matcha Kinako Sweet Potato Yule log ($120). Though I must say that the Japanese-inspired Matcha Kinako Sweet Potato with purple sweet potato cream, matcha joconde, matcha white bean paste, and sweetened azuki beans with a cute snowman captured my heart.

MOD by WongLee – The Forest Log 2.0
3 Christmas cakes are intricately crafted this year at Ministry of Desserts by WongLee. Chef Francis Wong was previously the Chef Entrepreneur of the popular Non Entre Desserts, with more than 12 years of experience specialising in novelty ice cream and frozen dessert creations.

The indulgent and attractive cakes include the classic Forest Log ($75 for 1kg), Matcha Chestnut Mont Blanc ($55 for $1kg) and King of Candy ($45 for 500g, $88 for 1kg) using Mao Shan Wang Durian.

The Forest Log 2.0 comes highly recommended, made using premium 70% Dark Chocolate, Oolong Cream, Pear Compote and a Hazelnut Crunch Base.

If that is not all, a shimmering spray of gold dust is sprayed on the “bark” that brings the festive mood and makes the logcake look more 3D and photogenic.

The soft and fluffy chocolate sponge harmonises well with the layer of Oolong infused curd cloaked with rich premium Valrhona chocolate mousse.

Take a bite, and get a savour of the second layer of pear compote and hazelnut crunch base. Experience that both the creamy sensation and fruity taste in one bite.

Pan Pacific Singapore – Matcha Hazelnut Log Cake
Pan Pacific Singapore has launched five Christmas Festive Treats this year, appealing to dessert lovers who love different flavour profiles.

They include the Japanese-inspired Matcha Hazelnut Log Cake ($72.76), Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut Log Cake ($77.04), Coco Pineapple Log Cake ($72.76), Black Forest Tart ($70.62), to local-flavoured Mao Shan Wang and Gula Melaka Log Cake ($72.76).

While a trip to Japan may not be possible yet, make this Matcha Hazelnut Log Cake ($72.76) the centrepiece this year.

It is one of the most striking “3D-looking” Christmas log-cakes, shaped like a Christmas wreath instead of the usual rectangular shape.

Assembled with a crunchy feuilletine base, hazelnut sponge, smooth hazelnut crémeux, matcha mousse and intense shade of green with chopped caramelised hazelnuts sprinkled on it, the entire surface is modelled with delicate and intricate folds that make it more stylish and classier looking.

Matcha-lovers will definitely not be disappointed as there are the distinct green tea notes in each bite, coupled with a different texture from the smooth and velvety mousse and crunchy feuilletine base.

A popular choice is Chocolate Pear Bavaroise Log Cake that uses real pears in the cream filling, and flourless sponge on a french chocolate biscuit base for a more fruity and refreshing taste. The entire cake is also draped in dark chocolate from France.

Another crowd-favourite is the Chocolate Praline Log filled with dark chocolate bavaroise cream, praline, cocoa genoise and almond dacquoise biscuit base.

Seriously Keto – Mistletoe Keto-Friendly Red Velvet Cake
This is Singapore’s first wholly ketogenic bakery, with an own line of products freshly made in their bakery.

All items produced are low carbs, diabetic-friendly, gluten-free, zero sugar, suitable for those looking for cakes which are keto-compliant.

Three of their best-selling cakes have undergone a Christmas makeover for this festive season.

The Chocolate Brownie Cake ($68), Red Velvet ($68), and Peanut Butter ($68) are now available as 10cm three-layered cakes, decorated with Christmas cake toppers that can serve 6 pax.

Rich in flavour yet low in carbs, the Mistletoe Red Velvet Cake comes recommended, decorated with raspberries and cream cheese frosting with a coconut fragrance. A soft and decadent sponge cake.

The Chocolate “Log” is another favourite with 90% dark chocolate and cocoa powder, enhanced a tinge of saltiness from Himalayan Pink Salt.

Also look out for the chewy and fragrant ginger cookies of Jingle Snaps, and bold cinnamon loaf of Sinless Cinnamon. A wonderland of all cakes sugar-free, great for those looking for desserts guilt-free.

Sinpopo Brand – Red Velvet with Caramel Cream Cheese
Probably one of the most extensive collection this Christmas with a total of 17 cakes, Sinpopo Brand has also introduced five new festive creations.

These include the pretty-in-pink Red Velvet with Caramel Cream Cheese, Christmas Cherry Log Cake, Black Cocoa Devil’s Food Cake, Boozy Nutella Brownie and Sinpopo Brand Fruit Cake.

The Red Velvet with Caramel Cream Cheese is beautifully decked in alternating layers of red velvet cake and light cream cheese.

I thought that the light and fluffy red velvet sponge cake is complemented with a right balance, with salty-sweet caramel swirled in light cream cheese.

To fit the occasion, thyme and raspberries are added for that Christmas-y touch.

Do not miss out on their Christmas Classic selection. Their familiar and popular daily bakes such as Sticky Date Pudding Cake, Three-Milk Cake and Classic Black Forest, have undergone a transformation and are all “dressed up” to the Christmas theme.

My personal favourites are the best-selling Sinpopo Originals, known for their local kueh-inspired flavours such as Putu Piring and Pulut Hitam.
