Going on diet? Wanting to get SHOU? Salad shops are growing in popularity, especially in the CBD area of Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar. The working executives are craving for fresh, healthy greens at affordable prices.

These salad bars are also becoming more bold and beautiful – with ingredients, toppings and sauces that are getting different, substantial and actually rather wacky yet tasty.

Here are 12 Unique & Healthy Salads Places In Singapore’s CBD

The Rabbit Hole
1 Raffles Place, #04-30, Shopping Podium, Singapore 048616
Opening Hours: 10am – 7:30pm (Mon – Fri), 10am – 5pm (Sat)

Interesting home-made dressing
This salad bar is cafe-themed so as to move away from the usual salad shop outlook.

Dressings are all made freshly from scratch in-house, and ingredients feature a stronger list of deli products such as premium striploin and sous-vide chicken.

I am a fan of their interesting sauces, and gourmet house salads. For a refreshing take, try the Summer Rabbit ($11) which contains strawberries, oranges and turkey pastrami along with tangy honey mustard; or the Taste of Thai with sous vide chicken breast sprinkled with crushed peanut and sweet & spicy dressing.

The Daily Cut
1 Raffles Place, #B1-31, One Raffles Place Singapore 048616 (Raffles Place MRT)
Opening Hours: 11am – 3pm, 6pm – 8:30pm (Mon-Fri), 11am-3:30pm (Sat-Sun)

Protein-filled salads
The line here gets crazy… easily one of the salad shops at Raffles Place with the longest queue, which starts as early as 11am in the morning. A favourite among gym goers and office executives.

$12 onwards for a regular salad which includes 1 protein, 1 complex carb, 3 supplements and 1 dressing.

Choose your meats from ribeye steak ($1 more), turkey breast ($1.50 more) chicken thigh, tilapia fillet, shrimp ($1 more) and salmon fillet ($2 more). Top it up with sous vide egg.

Dressings such as barbecue, Thai, honey mustard, ginger ponzu are available in squeeze bottles on the side. Go easy on them.

Japanese inspired salads and soba
This remains the favourite of many lunch time crowd goers, who praise their healthy sets of soba noodles, brown set sets and salads which are actually quite tasty too.

WHEAT can be found at One Raffles Place, Asia Square and International Plaza.

Their salads have weird names, but once you get a hang of it, it will be fine. The three most popular items were the Penguin ($7.80) – green soba with shredded chicken, eggs, salad, and sesame sauce, Salmon ($9.00) – grilled salmon with green soba, salad and yuzu sauce, and Bull Run ($8.00) – grilled teriyaki chicken, green soba and salad.

Kraftwich

The budget-conscious would be slightly happy. A main with drink and side cost $13.90, while a salad from Smoked Salmon, Turkey Ham & Cheese and Smoked Duck goes at $9.90.

For the early birds, grab some coffee with a croissant sandwich.

Rawbar
Republic Plaza #B1-08, 9 Raffles Place Singapore 048619
Opening Hours: 9am – 7pm (Mon – Fri)

Middle Eastern inspired salads
At Rawbar, there are interesting varieties of salads and sajs – a form of pita or lavash bread from the Middle East, which is not commonly seen in Singapore.

Their Salad Express ($9.00) has internationally-inspired ‘raw meals’ called Athens, Caesar, California, Nicoise, Shanghai, and Fattoush. Go for the Shanghai, containing egg, tofu, bean sprout, corn, brown rice, carrot with dressing of honey soy and sweet chilli.

The salad bar strives on using some of the most natural and wholesome ingredients daily in their live kitchen.

Lean Bento
11 Collyer Quay #02-02, The Arcade, Singapore 049317
Opening Hours: 11:15am – 5:30pm (Mon – Fri)

Low carb, low fat salads
Lean Bento’s salads are low carb, high protein, low fat with no msg. They warn you how many calories each box contains.

Each component in their bento is made from scratch using only quality whole food, pesticide-free, halal sources, with home-made marinade from their own kitchen.

What I like about them is their constant updating of the menu – there is almost always something new there, even for the most regular of regulars. One of their newest additional is a Burnt Cheese Chicken Multigrain Donburi ($12.95) which already sounds rather tempting.

Price of the bowls is fixed at $16 nett, more expensive than the typical salad bowls, but has incorporation of more elements.

Japanese styled protein salads
Started by the same team behind Standing Sushi Bar and Tanuki Raw, Shinkansen brings Japanese styled protein meals where you can choose one of their crafted signature bowls, or create your own healthy meal by selecting a base, protein, and toppings to put together.

One of their most popular salads is the Okayama – maple & genmaicha Cured Salmon, onsen egg, steamed broccoli, sweet corn, baby spinach, romaine and butterhead lettuce, soba noodles, and wafu dressing.

For something more meaty, try the Shin-Kobe with yakiniku Steak, onsen egg, steamed broccoli, sweet corn, baby spinach, romaine and butterhead lettuce, mixed grain sushi rice, and ginger balsamic sauce.

How this post came about
Well, long story short. I thought I needed some help with my fluctuating weight and water retention problem. Plus, a back problem caused me to reduce sports and gym activities significantly.

SHOU Slimming Centre came in and offered to help. The truth is, I was initially very apprehensive about it. Many, many slimming centres offered me endorsement deals, but I declined all.

Their professionalism, sincerity and ability to customise treatments using state of the art technology inspired confidence. Plus, they are not for rapid weight loss, but a gradual one through personalised treatments, consultations and proper food nutrition.

They kept telling me, “You CAN still eat normal and proper meals.” So, I am still eating, but having less, and becoming more selective in choices.

I have made regular trips down to their branch at One Raffles Place, and since am nearby, make it a point to also eat healthier by having lunches or dinners at the salad shops in the vicinity.

Results wise, so far so good! Looking forward to a better me.
