Starbucks Taipei 101 – You Need A Reservation Here, For The Starbucks With One Of The Best Views In The World

[Taipei] Never felt so stressed entering a Starbucks. This is my first.

You need to know this if you are a Starbucks fan. The outlet at Taipei 101 Level 35 promises you a magnificent view, BUT you can only go up By RESERVATIONS only.

Taipei 101 used to be the tallest skyscraper in the world, a symbol of “better than perfection” (as 100 is traditionally the number of perfection). An observatory ticket up there on the 89th floor will cost you NT$600.

However, a seat at Starbucks on Level 35, will provide you with a pretty-neat view too.

Here are some rules:
– You need to call at least one day in advance. The servers are mainly Mandarin-speaking, if you can’t, get the hotel concierge to help.
– The number to call is +886 2 8101 0701
– They used to issue access cards via the kiosks downstairs, not anymore.
– The minimal charge is NT$200 (SGD$9.30, USD$6.50) per customer.
– Time limit is 90 minutes.
– Dress code: No slippers or shorts.
– Last reservation slot is 90 minutes before closing time.

WAH. Now you know what I mean by “stressful”.

When you get to Taipei 101 on the actual day, look for Door 7, or tell the cab driver the office tower entrance.

DO NOT be late for the appointment. You will probably see a line at the lobby, and a Starbucks staff will appear at the appointed time with an attendance sheet. You will be issued with a number. Do not lose that ticket.

Here’s another tip: There is no use being the first in the line. Because that would likely mean you would be the first to enter the lift, and the last to get out. Get it?

Those who come out of the lift first would most probably stride to the window seats – those with the best view.

Don’t hesitate, just go. Don’t push or rush either. The Taiwanese are generally respectful and civil-minded.

As for the food and drinks, they are the typical Starbucks offering, with some seasonal items. You get my drift.

Take your time to order the food. After that, sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
