Dot & Dash – An ‘Underground’ Undiscovered Cafe Near City Hall

This cafe sees itself as “an underground code shared by only those in the know” – akin to the Dot & Dash.

It is not quite easy to spot this coffee place, both in the physical and social media realm.

Dot & Dash is located at the basement of High Street Centre along North Bridge Road, could be hidden out of plain sight.

For those wondering, it is just directly opposite the Parliament House, also a short 2-3 minutes’ walk away from The Supreme Court of Singapore. Could be a good thing for workers in the vicinity, as the next nearest place to get artisanal coffee is from The Betterfield at High Street.

On social media such as Facebook and Instagram, you do not get the typical buzz when a coffee place newly opens. But again, perhaps it chooses to serve workers around the vicinity.

The menu consists of a variety of Croissants such as butter, almond, chocolate, and ham & cheese ($3.00 – $7.00), Sandwiches of olives & tomato mozzarella, ham & cheese, tuna mayo, sesame camembert ($7.50 – $8.50), and sweets of Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Tart, Chocolate Éclair ($6.00 – $7.50).

If some of the items looked familiar, they were sourced from French Patisserie PAUL.

Coffee beans are sourced from Papa Palheta, with offerings of espresso, flat white, latte, cappuccino, mocha ($3.50 – $5.00). For something more varied, get the Seven Spice Chai ($5.00) or a Dashing Ice Tea ($5.00) to cool yourself down in the weather.

The coffee was decent. However, in a long-run, the cafe would probably need to find more differentiating factors to continue to draw crowd from its slightly obscure location.
