Weekend brunches are fast becoming our favourite indulgence. It is the time to gather with family and friends over relaxing afternoons, to spend the day away with delightful food and drinks.

It is not just about eggs and pancakes, but an international range from Chinese Peking Duck, German Sausages, Indian butter Chicken, Japanese ‘Jade’ Ramen, Mexican Tortillas, to Irish Roast.

The kids get it FREE. Yes, Kids under 12 (under age of 6 for VLV Singapore) can enjoy a FREE meal with every two paying adults at selected restaurants. For a limited period only, more details at the end of the post.

Quality Spread Of Chinese Food In Stylish Modern Restaurant
Everyone should leave some space for a Hong Kong style weekend brunch. VLV’s Executive Chef Martin Foo and team have conceptualized this newly-released brunch concept, inspired by the vibrant dining culture and street food of Hong Kong.

You get to feast a wide range of dishes from 9 different live stations, freshly made dim sum and cooked-to-order signature dishes.

The weekend brunch ($68++ per person, $34++ for children age 6 to 11) is value-for-money considering the quality and spread. Children below 6 years old dine for free!

Brunch Highlight – Live Station Classic Peking Duck, And Dim Sum
Not to be missed at the live stations is the Classic Peking Duck, where crisp golden duck is wrapped with rice flour crepes and added with appetizing Hoisin sauce. All prepared right in front of you.

The other highlight dishes are also tantalising… Crackling Pork Belly, Sautéed Australian Tenderloin in Black Pepper, Curry Fish Ball (yes, those Hong Kong style ones), Beef Brisket, Pan Fried Oyster with Egg, Fried Radish Cake, Beef Congee, Kurobuta Siew Mai, Prawn Dumplings, Wild Mushroom Dumpling and Singapore Signature Chilli Sauce Soft Shell Crab.

I have only mentioned part of the list. Do get the Hong Kong Prawn Wanton Noodles – my friend said better than THAT famous brand. You won’t regret it.

With weekend brunch during the day, and entertainment with fun cocktails at night, sit outdoors if you would like to people-watch near the iconic water feature of Clarke Quay.

Singapore’s Most Well-Established Dining and Bar Chain
Harry’s at Clarke Quay is modelled like a stylish urban living room, decorated with memorabilia gathered from Harry’s extensive travels.

It has also just released a new menu with inclusion of some Asian-Western fusion delights, from Kimchi Chicken Burger to Soy-Glazed Beef Cubes.

Perfect with brunch is their afternoon drinks special, where you can enjoy 20% off draught beers before 5pm, available daily.

Brunch Highlight – Harry’s Seven
This platter of Harry’s Seven ($36.90++) gathers 7 of Harry’s most loved starters together, including the Harry’s Signature Wings – crispy wings dressed with house blend of spice, Otah Toasties, Spicy Chicken Sausage, Fish Cracklings served with aioli, Chicken Satay with spicy peanut dip, Onion Rings and Crisps.

This is probably good for 2 – 3 person, though sometimes one can find it hard to resist all.

Leading Art Boutique Café Chain
tcc should be a familiar brand to many, offering pasta, salads, sandwiches, soup, desserts, cakes and coffee all under one roof.

For an easy-going brunch, have the signature main of Seafood Aglio Olio ($23.50++) served with sautéed scallops and prawns, along with appetisers of Shroom Bites ($11.80++) of buttery pastry cups filled with sautéed mushroom ragout, and a rather-strong but refreshing Cold Brew Coffee in a bottle ($6.80++).

If you are craving for all-day breakfast, there are also other less-commonly seen choices of Gourmet Steak & Eggs ($24.50++), Mushroom Scrambled Egg Crepe ($16.00) and Oozy Coffee Pancakes ($15.50++).

Brunch Highlight – Dome Surprise
Good for your Instagram gallery, the Dome Surprise ($13++) is fudgy chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream enclosed in chocolate shell.

Pour the homemade caramel sauce over, and watch your dessert open apart to reveal the cake inside.

Irish Pub and Restaurant with Live Music and Entertainment
McGettigan’s is an Irish pub known for its live entertainment including Irish music, and live sports screening.

Its menu features classic Irish dishes such as Oxtail Stew ($30++), Beer Battered Fish and Chips complete with mushy peas ($24++), and favourites of Buffalo Chicken Wings ($18++), Gourmet Beef Sliders ($17++) and Atlantic Seared Salmon ($25++).

Brunch Highlight – Full Irish Breakfast and Traditional Roast
To get into the lazy brunch mood, the recommended would be the Full Irish Breakfast ($25++) with 2 eggs of any style, pudding, sausage, rashers, overnight tomatoes, baked beans served with toast and tea or coffee.

Exclusive to the brunch menu is the weekend Roast ($25++) of slow roasted rib eye of beef with mashed potato, steamed vegetables and gravy.

Hot Stones is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Singapore, where you have an interactive time of cooking meats and seafood on sizzling hot serpentine volcanic stone slabs.

What it means is that meats of chicken, pork, beef, lamb and seafood will have their natural juices sealed, so that you can appreciate the full freshness and flavours.

Brunch Highlight – Premium Surf and Turf
The Premium Surf and Turf ($55++) includes Australian Tenderloin, Salmon and Tiger Prawns where you can cook yourself, or get the friendly service staff to help prepare your meal on the hot stone.

Comes with a choice of side salad, potato wedges, garlic rice or mashed potato.

Mexican Cuisine with Margaritas
Hola! Have some Mexican food by the Singapore River, or in the colourful space indoors.

The family-favourite restaurant for some Burritos with grilled beef, chicken or prawns, Nachos with Melted Cheese and Toppings, Quesadillas, Taco Salad, Tostadas, Enchiladas to larger sharing dishes of Grilled Mexican Steak and Braised Pork Ribs.

Brunch Highlight – Fajita Trios
Have some fun with the Fajitas Trio ($32.90++)). What you get are sheets of soft tortilla wraps, where you can fill with cabbage on the sides and ingredients that come in a sizzling hotplate.

Japanese Small-Plates, Izakaya-Style Dining
Tomo Izakaya offers an extensive menu of Japanese small-plate dining and Izakaya style food, with a wide selection of Japanese set meals, Itamemono, Onigiri, Salad, Sashimi, Sushi, Udon, Yakimono matched with sakes, shochus and beers.

Brunch Highlight – Tokyo Ramen, Kai Ramen and Shake Tan Tan
Three ramen has been newly launched – the special shoyu blended Tokyo Ramen ($9.50++), Shake Tan Tan ($12++) and Kai Ramen ($14++). These are created by Chef Hirotaka Murata who has more than 20 years of experience.

Green. That bowl which would catch your attention should be the Kai Ramen ($14++), probably the 1st time jade green-coloured ramen noodles are offered in a Japanese restaurant in Singapore.

The soup base is cooked using two types of clams – asari and hamaguri, chicken bones, Japanese snapper bones and vegetables. Some yuzu peels are added to provide that refreshing, tangy notes to the broth.

Authentic German and Bavarian Dishes For Communal Dining
Paulaner at Clarke Quay which is popular for its Pork Knuckle, Pork Schnitzel, and tempting desserts like Apple Beignets and the Emperor’s Pancake, has started opening for brunch during the weekends.

It serves up a German Brunch Spread – think German Pretzel served with Cheesewurst Sausage, Signature Munich Wraps and platters with assorted sausages.

Specialty Dishes From Various States Of India
RAS stays true to its name by bringing together choice dishes from various states of India, in one single restaurant.

Indian food lovers here get a wide range of dishes from diverse regions, from the familiar Tandoori Jhinga – fresh tiger prawns marinated with hung-curd and spices, Lamb Kebab, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka to lesser known dishes of Tandoori Lobster.

Available is an extensive list of fine wines from across the world, internationally acclaimed beers and cocktails to go along with the riverside dining experience.

Brunch Highlight – Seafood Dishes and Butter Chicken
The chef’s special here include the lesser found Crab Masala where fresh Sri Lankan crab are cooked in a blend of Indian in-house spices, Lobster Masala and RAS Chops Masala.

All the specials are served with rice or naan and dal tadka or dal makhani.

I think that curries are their strength, and I particularly liked their take of Butter Chicken where you get boneless pieces cooked in a traditional, creamy, mildly-spicy, best to go with some garlic naan.

Join in the Clarke Quay Sunday Fun Brunch on 14 & 28 May from 1pm to 6pm. There will be fun-filled activities for families at the fountain square, an excellent time to reconnect and bring the family together.
