Tamed Fox X Hooked To Go – Hot NEW Café At Taipei, Healthy Donuts On Latte

[Taipei, Taiwan] While Taipei has always been known for its street food and bubble milk tea (which can add too many calories), healthy food joints are getting increasingly popular as consumers become weight-conscious.

I was recommended to try these two new cafes with a difference at Ren’ai Road, Da’an District (near Xinyi Anhe station) – healthy with a difference.

Occupying the same space are two F&B joints, namely Hooked to Go that focuses entirely on coffee, and Tamed Fox offering nutritious yet tasty food.

Their motto is, “Eat well and heal thy self”.

Located at the entrance of the compound is the coffee counter for Hooked To Go, serving Espresso/ Americano (TWD120, SGD$ 5.60), Cappuccino (TWD140, SGD$6.50), Latte (TWD150, SGD$7) and Filtered Coffee, roasted by Pharos Coffee.

At the rear of the cafe is Tamed Fox, serving beverages such as Tumeric Nut Milk Latte and Matcha Maca Latte (TWD160, SGD$7.50).

Good to know: the owner has a dietician degree.

Ah, no wonder the emphasis.

Food options include Sandwich (TWD260-300, SGD$12.10-14), Salmon Belly/ Baked Chicken Bowl (TWD330, SGD$15.50) and Greek Yogurt (TWD150, SGD$7), which make such attractive food options after a workout session.

Also available are Power Fruit Bowl (TWD180, SGD$8.10), Banana Bread (TWD80, SGD$3.60), and Flourless Brownie (TWD100, SGD$4.50).

The Iced Latte (TWD150, SGD$7) felt slightly more expensive than the average around (both Taipei and Singapore).

However, this could be worth its money as the drink was bold and robust, with a slightly acidic tone. A definite caffeine boost.

I ordered additional Doughnuts (TWD80, SGD$3.80) for a light snack. Also #ForTheGram as the combination of Doughnut-on-Latte looked “Instagram-worthy”.

The doughnut interestingly tasted slightly different from the norm.

It almost felt like having a carrot cake in the form of a doughnut, with tiny bits of shredded carrots found within, coupled with cinnamon.

If you are wondering if any colourings were used, on-artificial ingredients such as dragonfruit were incorporated for the pink glaze and natural sweetness.

I enjoyed the doughnuts though, with the texture soft and dense. Yet it was different and healthier from the usual ones available in the market.

Except that both the Strawberry Greek Yogurt Smoothie (TWD180, SGD$8.50) and Mango Greek Yogurt Smoothie (TWD180, SGD$8.50) were nothing out of the ordinary, which tasted just like all other smoothies out there.

It is heartening to see that cafes in Taipei are revolving to meet the market’s demand, and Tamed Fox had distinguished themselves from the rest with both good-to-look-at, healthy-to-eat food.
