Oh My Mango – Thai Mango Frappe, Shibuya Toast, Bingsu And Tom Yum Toast At Jurong West

Oh my goodness, Oh My Mango is all the way at Jurong West?

Calling all NTU students, I guessed Pulau NTU is not that “ulu” after all (ya right!).

Located at level 1 of Gek Poh Shopping Centre (wait, first time hearing about this place) is the addition of a Thai dessert cafe with 20 seats indoors and 6 seats outdoors.

Separated into two different units where ordering is done next door, the menu features a wide selection of 40 items.

Think 7 different types of Mango drinks ($3.90 – $5.90), Thai Milk Tea ($3), Shibuya Toast ($7.90 – $10.90), Bingsu ($9.90 – $14.90) and Tom Yum Goong Toast ($6.90).

Being a mango-centric cafe (which reminded me of Mango King at ION Orchard), their signature items include Mango Sticky Rice Toast ($9.90), Mango Bingsu ($13.90), Mango Sticky Rice Ice Cream ($11.90), Matcha Mango Latte ($5.90) and Mango Sticky Rice Frappe ($5.90).

I had one of their signature items: Matcha Mango Latte ($5.90) that came in pretty and “instagram-mable” alternating colours of green (Matcha), white (Milk) and yellow (Mango).

Each individual layer was aroi mak mak on its own with subtle bitterness from the matcha and a sweet layer of mango pulp at the bottom of the cup.

It probably took me a few mouths to get used to the taste after mixing, with a stronger sweetness and a slight lingering bitterness.

For those who are here just for the Thai mangoes, Mango Latte ($4.90), Mango Yogurt Frappe ($4.90), Mango Freeze ($4.90) and Mango Sticky Rice Frappe ($5.90) are available.

I guessed the prices here are more affordable due to its ulu location within the heartlands, to cater to the crowd staying nearby.

Apart from their mangoes, I couldn’t give their Thai Milk Tea a miss (since it’s a Thai dessert cafe, right?).

Their Thai Milk Tea Toast ($9.90) came with a scoop of Thai milk tea ice cream, sprinkled with sliced almonds and cookie crumbles and drizzled with Thai Milk tea sauce.

While the toast may be soft and fluffy on the inside with a generous amount of salted butter, the toast lacks some crispiness on the outside.

Essentially, it tasted just like a giant loaf of bread “buah” (slathered) with butter.

The Thai milk tea sauce and ice cream could do with a stronger hint of flavour as it was overwhelmed by the generous amount of salted butter in it.

Oh my, there’s potential for Oh My Mango to be a popular place for many cafehoppers.

Natural lighting (can be quite hot in the afternoon), pretty drinks and trendy desserts, will you journey to the West to get your mango fix?
