[Bangkok] The Chinese Cheese Tea wave has also hit Bangkok, and that one store that is attracting the most attention and young customers is Heekcaa at Siam Discovery.
Heekcaa is a Guangzhou-born tea chain that arrived in Bangkok in 2017. The chain’s headquarters is in China but is known by a different name – Hey Tea 喜茶. (Take note that there are several bubble tea shops with similar names and even logo – a boy drinking tea, but this is the real McCoy.)
The Bangkok store is the 3rd franchise in Asia, after the success of stores in Korea and Vietnam.

Hey Tea 喜茶is known for topping its tea-based drinks with whipped cream cheese. (Do you want to have a cheese moustache? Have it at Heekcaa!)
Its brand motto of “Every day is Royal Tea” reflects their philosophy in serving tea.
To live up to its motto, it only serves premium quality tea. Each tea leaves a mildly bitter aftertaste to go with the sweet fluffiness of the cheese, gently ladled on top.

The variety include Signature Heekcha Cheese (90 baht), Mango Cheese (120 baht), Passion Fruit Cheese (99 baht), Oreo Cheese (120 baht), Milo Cheese (90 baht), Latte Cheese (105 baht), Matcha Cheese (120 baht) and Cocoa Cheese (95 baht).
(Almost) everything CHEESE!

Their signature drink is the Heekcaa Cheese (90 baht, SGD$3.76) made of light and fragrant oolong tea, served with a thick layer of frothy whipped cream cheese. A dash of matcha powder is sprinkled on top of the foam for a hint of bitter taste.
Each cheese drink you order comes with a plastic dome lid. This way, you can tilt the cup at a 45-degree angle and slurp easily.
Get both the cheese and tea in one sip.

While I had other forms of cheese tea elsewhere, I must say I enjoyed this a lot. The cheese didn’t come across as ‘disgusting’, but like a form which was lightly salty. The oolong tea was of good quality, fragrant and cooling-refreshing.
You can also have fun by adding toppings for only 10baht (SGD$0.42) like extra pieces of mango, Milo nuggets, Kit Kats, Oreos, M&M’s and foi thong. Em, maybe not.
If you prefer the sweeter type, go for the sweet Matcha Tea (120 baht, SGD$5.00).

Another strange drink I thought was a “must-have” when I was there was the Cha Thai Cheese (120 baht, SGD$5.00), an only-in-Thailand menu item.
Yes, Thai Milk Tea with Cheese. (Maybe that is where Tuk Tuk Cha got its inspiration from.)

The tea leaves were from Southern Thailand, with the exclusive cheese tea topped with foi thong, a traditional Thai dessert made of sweet, thread-like shredded egg yolks.
Aside from the cheese drinks, Heekcaa offer more. All drinks are grouped into 3: cheese drinks, coffee, and fruit tea.

The coffee line-up includes: Cappuccino, Hurricane, Americano, Mocha, Espresso, Caramel Machiato, and Latte. Price range 75-85 bajt (SGD$3.13 – $3.55).
The Hurricaane (75 baht, $3.10) I ordered, comprising of 100% “premium Arabica” wasn’t fantastic.
For the Fruity Flavors, the Super Fruit Season Spring (110 baht, SGD$4.59) is a bestseller.
And if you need a food item or snack for that ultimate pairing, get the Heekcaa Brulee.

I must say that the café was quite hipster and modern looking.
A series of huge lamps hang over the coffee counter from the exposed ceiling. Cube-like fixtures decorate the ceiling in the dining area. Black-painted HVAC systems add to the black and white colour scheme of the space. Many photo opportunities.

Comfy armchairs are placed by the floor-to-ceiling windows. Customers can enjoy the view of the Skywalk or a BTS coming and going.
The shopping complex Siam Discovery is found between MBK and Siam Paragon. It is easy to get there via BTS. Get off at National Stadium or Siam station and walk for about 5 minutes.
