[London] Even if you may have dessert places around the corner, or are surrounded by ice-cream spots, there is nothing like a craving for gelato that you can’t seem to quite satisfy.
Amorino is the place you turn to in such a scenario.

Even today, good gelato places are few and far between.
Despite the increased popularity in recent years, there do not seem to be enough of them around in London city.

Thanks to Amorino, however, Londoners have got gelato havens dotted all over the city with an aim to please with reliable quality.
The chain started off as a passion project between two childhood friends Paolo Benassi and Cristiano Sereni in 2002, and has grown exponentially since, providing delightful ice-cream with deliberately chosen ingredients that are natural and organic.

Amorino doubles as a café as well, running the gamut of popular café mainstays to accompany your cup or cone.
There are branches in Camden Town, Covent Garden, Charring Cross and a few other spots in the London area.
The one I frequent is on Goodge Street, which is one the imaginary border between Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury.

Perhaps the most alluring facet of this personable chain, is the fact that you can have as many flavours as you desire.
Yes, I repeat, as many as you like.

How do they all fit you may ask?
Well, the servers at Amorino are specifically trained to use a steel spatula to form petals of ice-cream such that each layer represents a particular flavour.
All in the shape of a rose.

In this way, with performative precision, one can have all their favourite flavours crammed into one beautiful serving.

My personal favourite at Amorino is a mixture of coffee, chocolate, stracciatella (chocolate chip and milk) and vanilla ice-cream.
And most often, on my way to university, with a robust Americano.

The sizes of the ice-cream commence at a kid’s version (£2.70, SGD$4.98) and go all the way up to a large (£5.80, SGD10.70), but their portions are tremendous enough for me never to venture above a regular (£4.50, SGD8.30).
While I do not go so far as to say it is the best gelato you can find in London, it certainly scratches the Italian ice-cream itch when it comes.
Give the place a go and see for yourself.
