The latest addition to Choa Chu Kang is Two+2, a small and cosy ice-cream parlour that has made its home at Sunshine Place.
Interestingly, it is also the third ice-cream café in the Keat Hong area alone (the other two being Sticks N’ Stones and Hey Sugar).
Being within walking distance of three schools, Two+2 seems like it can be popular with students looking to hang-out after class.

The menu here is pretty modest, with just a small selection of coffee, iced teas and waffles to accompany the ice-cream.
For those curious about its name, Two+2 refers to the husband and wife team that runs the café as well as their two children.

The décor was kept relatively simple with a few framed photos adorning the otherwise plain walls and some naked lightbulbs for a pseudo-industrial feel, I’m guessing.
The sitting area is small as well, housing a total of four 2-seater tables. If you are planning to dine in, do keep this in mind.

Out of the 18 flavours available, 16 are fixed while the other two are rotated once every two days in order to give repeat customers something to look forward to.
Some of the choices I spotted that day include Cookies and Cream, Taro Yam & Coconut, Pistachio, Mango Sorbet, Earl Grey, Strawberry Cheesecake and D24 Durian.

Interestingly, no chocolate flavour – a common staple at ice-cream parlours. And sadly, no alcoholic flavours as well.
Regardless of flavours, a scoop of ice-cream starts at $3.20 and gets further discounted with every additional scoop.
Have it a cup, on a cone ($0.50) or a waffle in three available flavours – Charcoal, Buttermilk and Red Velvet ($1.80 each).

With every order, you can get to choose a free topping of either M&Ms, mini Oreos, Pocky sticks, Coco rice, crushed peanuts and marshmallows as well.

For my first flavour, I decided to go for the Thai Milk Tea on a cone ($3.70). While its colour seemed quite ”gao”, its flavour was anything but rich.

Like a tiny firework that fizzled out in the blink of an eye, the taste of Thai milk tea faded away very quickly in my mouth.
However, I did appreciate how the level of sweetness in this was controlled pretty well at least.

My second choice was the Hazelnut on top of a Red Velvet Waffle drizzled with White Chocolate Sauce ($5.00).
Compared to the Thai Milk Tea, the Hazelnut was much better taste-wise – strong and earthy with a lingering aroma. I would have preferred a denser mouthfeel though.
The Red Velvet Waffle was more impressive. The outside was crispy while the interior still dense and moist. It was like biting into a crispy brownie.
The white chocolate sauce was a nice addition as well, providing a small burst of milky sweetness with every bite.

Protip: White ice-cream and white cups don’t make the best combination for photos. As you can see, I learned this the hard way.
The third and final flavour of the day was Yuzu ($3.20). Refreshing and zesty, it might have been a tad too sweet but overall, it was still within acceptable range. I liked how there were bits of yuzu peel in there to accentuate the namesake flavour with a slight bitterness.
Overall, Two+2 gets a pass in my book for their ice-cream. Considering its wallet-friendly prices, it is decent enough for folks living in the area looking to beat the heat without breaking the bank.
The waffles, in my opinion, are the real main attraction.
