Undiscovered Hilltop Restaurant With Garden Dining Experience
Literally the restaurant with a view, an escape from the city, and the place to experience hilltop dining with friends and family.

Arbora is a NEW casual dining restaurant under One Faber Group (you may know the restaurant it by its former name Spuds & Aprons), serving classic Western fare, refreshing cocktails and botanical-inspired beverages.

In terms of food, Arbora’s 40-item all-day dining menu offers 17 mains, 4 salads, 10 snacks, 4 kids’ options, and 5 desserts. Prices are considered value-for-money, starting at $18 for the mains, and $8.50 for snacks.

Kota88 Restaurant
907 East Coast Road, #01-02 Springvale, Singapore 459107
Tel: +65 6242 2645
Opening Hours: 11am – 3pm, 6pm – 3am (Mon – Sun)

Authentic Chinese-Indonesian Restaurant At East Coast
Kota88 Restaurant, one of the new Chinese-Indonesian concepts in Singapore, is located at 907 East Coast Road.

For supper goers, the restaurant is opened till 3AM DAILY, for you to have comforting bowls of congee, and dishes from assorted satay, roasted duck and chicken, to fried seafood. Time to gather your kakis.

After looking through its menu, the concept seemed to centre around Chinese cuisine with local Indonesian influences. Think zhi-char dishes but incorporating some Indonesian sauces (such as kecap manis), spices and other elements.

Have the Nasi Campur Babi ($12.88) which literally means “mixed pork rice”, and is the signature item in the Kota88 menu.

Simply put, it is a bowl of assorted pork with rice. In Indonesia, it is sometimes called Nasi Rames which means “mixed rice”. Nasi Campur Babi is the Chinese-Indonesian take on a combination pork rice platter. Kota88 Restaurant (East Coast Road)

1st Halal Hokkaido Ramen & Donburi Restaurant In Singapore
Ichikokudo Hokkaido Ramen has arrived at Suntec City Mall, and it is also the first Halal-certified Hokkaido-style ramen restaurant in Singapore.

To keep the taste of their bowls as authentic as possible, Ichikokudo Hokkaido Ramen uses noodles produced exclusively using Hokkaido wheat for that the noodles are firm with a pleasant texture; kelp from Hokkaido is used in the soup stock for that added umami; butter directly-imported from Hokkaido; and adds aosa seaweed to evoke the feel of the Hokkaido sea.

The rich broth of the Original Ichikokudo Ramen ($9.90) is cooked by slowly simmering chicken bones daily. Sit by the counter as you can see one of their chefs painstakingly stirring the whole container of broth, and smell some of that soup aroma. Ichikokudo Hokkaido Ramen (Suntec City)

Authentic, Under-The-Radar Thai Restaurant At Bedok
This is an authentic-tasting Thai restaurant in Bedok, that has gone quite under-the-radar. And I think is a great place for family meals.

”Ob Woon” in Thai means warmth – the warmth one feels when gathering with loved ones and sharing a meal.

The kitchen is helmed by a team of Thai chefs, Ob Woon is a Thai restaurant anchored in authenticity.

Some of the recommended dishes include Grilled Pork Collar ($14.80), Super Crab Egg Omelette ($24.80), Crispy Morning Glory ($8.80), Salt Baked Sea Bass ($29.80), and Pad Thai Prawns ($8.80).

Bizen Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse
#N3-10 NomadX @ Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Rd, 238839
Tel: +65 6219 3463
Opening Hours: 11:30am – 10pm

Astons Opens Wagyu Steakhouse
Opened by Astons, the BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse concepts aims to bring high quality Bizengyu (Wagyu) to steak lovers at an affordable price, with steaks starting at $18.90+.

Having an exclusive partnership with Okayama cattle farmers, they import entire carcasses, handpicked and processed by experienced Japan-trained butchers, so that diners can enjoy the different cuts prepared and served in the way they are best suited for.

Cuts include Ribeye ($29.90), Striploin ($29.90), and Tenderloin ($33.90).

Many items were sold out when I visited, and I ordered a Wagyu Don ($14.90). While the price looked okay, the portion was unfortunately less than desired. So while it is great that food is considered inexpensive, perhaps it all adds up?

Violet Oon
Ion Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, #03-22
Opening Hours: 12pm – 10pm (Mon – Sun)

Famous Peranakan Restaurant Opens At ION Orchard
Food critic and restauranteur Violet Oon has opened her 4th restaurant, at ION Orchard (replacing Marmalade Pantry.

Other than Peranakan favourites, there will be also offerings of British food interpreted by Hainanese chefs, such as Hainanese Pork Chop ($34), Oxtail Stew ($42), and VO’s Shepherd’s Pie ($24)

You can continue to expect the signatures Ngoh Hiang ($1), Kuay Pie Tee ($17), Chicken Satay ($15), Buah Keluak Ayam ($23), Beef Rendang ($23), Babi Pong Tay ($18), Dry Laksa ($24) and Beef Hor Fun ($26). I noticed that while the branch of National Kitchen doesn’t serve pork, there are “babi” dishes found in this menu.

Some diners may find on the pricey side, but looking at the crowd, they don’t seem to mind paying more premium prices for hard-to-find food.

Popular Lanzhou Lamian Restaurant Has Arrived In Singapore
One of China’s most famous Lanzhou Lamian restaurants Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles 舌尖尖兰州牛肉面 has arrived to Singapore, right at Tiong Bahru Plaza Level 2.

A 2nd branch is in the works, to be opened at Chinatown Point.

To spot an authentic Lanzhou noodle dish, it must include 一清、二白、三红、四绿、五黄, meaning “one clear (soup), two white (radish), three red (chili oil), four green (leek) and five yellow (noodle).”

The well-loved Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles includes all 5 signature elements, easily identifiable with the blob of vibrant red special chilli oil and fresh cuts of green coriander, green leeks and radish.
