943 Kings Cross – Harry Potter Café In Hongdae Seoul. Apparate There For Your Hogwarts Cafe Experience

[Seoul] Alohomora. Potterheads may just want to apparate to the new 943 Kings Cross Harry Potter themed café, right smack in the heart of Hongdae – the popular hangout spot for Korean youths.

Well, Anyeong hasaeyo!.

With a thousand and one possible photo spots, a designated photo area with Hogwarts school robes, wands and broomsticks, this wizarding world café themed is not to be missed.

Your enchanted experience comes at a cost though, the staff will only allow people into the cafe batch by batch.

So be prepared to wait outside for quite some time, especially if you are intending to visit on weekends.

While waiting, there is a photo spot right outside the café, the famous scene where Harry passes through the wall to get to Platform 9 and ¾.

Even while queuing up, you hear the familiar soundtrack music from the franchise being played, which makes you even more excited to enter.

It is kind of like the feeling you get when queueing up at Universal Studios.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by an entire wall filled with wand boxes, which reminds me of the scene where Harry gets his first wand in Ollivanders.

The atmosphere coupled with the down-to-dust detailed decorations doesn’t make this just a café, but an experience.

Every single corner was decorated carefully, and I was impressed by their impeccable detail. The chandeliers, the chess sets and even books related to Harry Potter.

The coffee on the other hand, was not so magical.

The Caramel Macchiato (6500 won, SGD7.90) was honestly subpar – considering that Seoul has tens of thousands of decent coffee places around.

Even the Cream cheese pretzel (3,500 won, SGD4.30) that had a “Highly Recommended” label on it, was mediocre at best.

The cakes, unsure if they were made in-house, were also just pretty average.

I got the Kahlua Macchiato cake, while honestly wasn’t THAT bad, but tasted more like a plain coffee cake without any major surprises.

With both “Kahlua” and “Macchiato” to its name, perhaps just calling it “Keopi Cake” would have been more appropriate.

However, let’s not kid anyone as we all know that people don’t come here for the coffee and food.

There is also a seating area on the third floor, which gives out a totally different vibe compared to the second floor, kind of like the great hall in the movie where they have feasts and dinners.

Most people do not realise that there is this other level, so a good tip is to head up and grab seats.

The fourth floor is currently under renovation, (different theme hopefully) but I am assuming in the days to come, it will be opened with more seating capacity.

Do take note that for the photo spot, you have to queue up and they limit you to only 3 minutes per group.

So decide on which house you belong to, prepare your poses, and shoot fast!

The intricate details of this café is impeccable and I would definitely say it is worth coming here to spend an afternoon if you’re a Harry Potter fan.

Plenty of Instagram worthy corners for you to stock up on your Insta-worthy photos.
