[Hong Kong] Fans of authentic Hong Kong Milk Tea will be glad to know about this cosy spot that serves award-winning milk tea and yuanyang (a local concoction of coffee, tea and milk).
My Cup of Tea 我杯茶 is opened by the Winner of 2010 Milk Tea Champion, who also snagged the top award in 2011 for the Yuanyang competition.

Don’t expect to sit down for a leisurely meal, as this is mainly a place for the busy office workers in the hood to grab takeaways.
Think Ya Kun, but Hong Kong style.

If you must, they do have some bar seats for eating in, though not many.
The prices here are also on the lower scale, which is really a gem, especially in Wan Chai.

The first thing I did was to sip on the piping hot, freshly brewed milk tea.

Their Classic Milk Tea (HKD16, SGD2.75) had the right level of bitterness and the tea to milk ratio resulted in a very smooth cup of Hong Kong milk tea.

I ordered the Scrambled Egg Sandwich (HKD15, SGD2.60) which is everything a typical Hong Kong breakfast should be – the simplest fare but with a comforting taste.
The scrambled eggs were done to perfection and then sandwiched between 2 soft white bread slices.

On their signage, I noticed this interesting item Char Siew Crispy Bun with Egg (HKD29, SGD5) and decided to order one to try. Turned out to be a very good choice.
A thick slice of juicy char siew (sweet roasted pork) is sandwiched between a crispy bun and topped with a sunny side up.

Every mouthful was a burst of sweet and savoury, with the runny egg yolk adding to the umami flavour.
Be warned though, it can get quite messy eating this.

Overall, everything we ordered surpassed our expectations since My Cup of Tea is relatively new and hasn’t garnered the crazy following and queues of some of the other old-timer shops
Apparently, their Satay Beef Sandwich is also really good but I guess I will have to save that for a repeat visit.

Highly recommend this hole-in-the-wall shop for a true taste of authentic Hong Kong milk tea and a really simple and fulfilling Hong Kong style breakfast.
