The Ritual is a new café at Bukit Timah Road below Alocassia Apartment, but has nothing to do with Ritual Gym for 30 minutes exercises. One to gain calories, one to lose.

It hopes that residents around the Bukit Timah area and café goers will make it a ‘ritual’ to visit from day to night for food, drinks and good conversations.

While McDonald’s next door is having a steady flow of drive-thru customers, this can be a suitable spot with ample space for brunch, cakes and waffles. (It was previously occupied by Brew Maison, which I thought was not bad but unfortunately didn’t have a strong identity.)

I found some of the staff at The Ritual familiar, and recall seeing them previously at Botany at Robertson Quay.
It turned out that my observations were not wrong, as The Ritual is opened by one of the co-owners of Botany. Therefore, greenery is also a distinct feature here.

I find that café brunch prices are creeping upwards, and so I am more prudent to prevent over-ordering.

I had the Truffle Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon Toast ($23), made more luxurious-looking with black caviar and smoked salmon accompanied with sourdough toast.
It was a decent fare, as I thought the eggs could have been creamier and truffle oil aroma more apparent, but the caviar helped to add briny notes to the blander tasting eggs.

For something sweet, offerings include Belgium Chocolate & Berries Waffles ($15), Earl Grey & Speculoos Waffles ($15), Banana Split ($13) and Assorted Cakes ($8).
Between the Valrhona Chocolate and Earl Grey Hazelnut ($8 per slice), the staff recommended the former.
It was a not-bad choice overall, decadently rich, but I wondered about the size (considered it is $8) and if it could have been more thoroughly thawed before serving. (Of course, this is so soft launch phase, so to be patient with any possible operation hiccups.)
