Carnival themed, bright colours of red and white, wall paintings of elephants, floating lanterns, and a hanging garden at the back, Revelry at Lor Kilat scored on first impressions.

Revelry means ‘lively merrymaking’ and stands for the kind of place the owners had in mind. Once you enter through the main door, you would notice a painting of 3 colourful elephants, which represents the 3 siblings who opened this café together.
Finally, not another café with exposed pipes, a bicycle somewhere and dark wood industrial look.

The unique menu opened up like a fan, revealing specialties of savoury belgian waffles, such as Signature Burffle ($18) of grilled juicy beef patty, cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and animal-style sauce on waffle, and O.K. Waffle Pizza ($16) with otah chunks and chopped kai lan covered in baked mozzarella as toppings.

I had the Chicken & Waffles ($16) with crispy chicken thigh on waffle served with maple syrup on the side.
Instead of the usual buttermilk waffles that were much more chewy and dense, Revelry’s version was crispy and light, with a texture in between the old-school ice cream wafers and youtiao (I thought). There were loads of air pockets, and thus you would not feel so full after dining.

While I did like the waffle texture, the chicken could be juicier and flavourful. Felt lacking in taste (if I compare to the other prominent cafes selling the same item).

Both the cake I had – a Stylo Milo Cheesecake ($7), and Mocha ($5.50) were enjoyable.
What I was quite impressed, was the level of details they had in their aesthetics – the fold-able menu, key-shaped forks and spoons, matching seat covers for the chairs, and lighted bulbs which made the cafe had a circus-y feel.
