Lady M – New Cakes & All Day Breakfast At Orchard Central

This Lady M at Orchard Central did have a New York feel, looking like no other cake shops in Singapore. Stylish, contemporary, elegant and white. Though you may get lost initially. Go upstairs or downstairs? Queue where huh?

Customers can choose to enter via Level 1 or 2, with most of the seating area concentrated on the mezzanine level, which would offer a window view facing Orchard Road, complete with tall ceilings.

Just like the streets of New York can make you feel brand new, Lady M looking all pretty can make you feel upbeat.

A dozen other people were ordering the Chocolate Mille Crepe ($9/slice), which is exclusive to the Orchard Central. Half of that dozen would take 5 shots (of the cake and with the cake) before really eating, “So pretty, so good!”

It’s true. The Chocolate Mille Crepe while costing more than a red-coloured note, with its twenty paper-thin handmade chocolate crêpes alternated with chocolate pastry cream and a caramelized surface, redefined smoothness and elegance for contemporary cakes available in Singapore’s cafe. Rich yet not indulgent.

By a small margin, I preferred the Green Tea Mille Crepe ($9/slice) where the sweetness of the pastry cream wedded the subtlety of the fine green tea powder. You can choose either to peel layer by layer, or take a bite of its entirety. My method is the former.

The Éclair ($6/piece) placed far below on the menu, proved to the inferior cousin with its dry texture and lack of vanilla fragrance. Unfortunately. Deemed a waste of my calories.

Only available at the Orchard Central Boutique, you can also try their all-day breakfast specials: M’s Big Break ($20) consists of toasted muffins, soft poached eggs, turkey bacon, barbeque baked beans, mushrooms, chicken and cheese chipotles while The Lady’s Benedict ($12) offers a choice of smoked salmon or turkey ham with brown butter hollandaise, toasted muffins, and soft poached eggs.

A selection of salads ($10 to $15), soups ($8 to $10), paninis ($12 to $14) and pot pies ($12 to $18) are also available.

I burst my calorie-count on the fair Lady M. Tell me how the rest of the items go.
