Hyde & Seek Gastro Bar – Fun Dining Concept From Chef Ian Kittichai

[Bangkok, Thailand] Conceptualised by celebrity chef Ian Kittichai, Hyde & Seek Gastro Bar had been called Thailand’s first “London-meets-New-York-meets-Asia” gastro bar.

While Gaggan is for fine dining, this is for fun dining.

Six words. Eggs benedict, eggs benedict, eggs benedict. Okay, that was two words, but we heard so many recommendations for their brunch bites.

When we saw the Boyscout Benedict (250 baht) with poached egg purses, roast apple, smoked maple syrup and spider mustard, our hearts stopped a beat. The addition of those sweet caramelised roast apples was ingenious, as we swept the messy-looking plate clean.

Our only ‘complaint’ was that the eggs could have been runnier such that we could see the yolk ooze when cut part, and this perhaps have been overcooked a tad.

The other show-stopped was the Nutella Souffle (230 baht) with peanut toffee and hot fudge sauce – rich, intense and would need a few to share the guilt. The name ‘souffle’ could be a misnomer though, as the texture of this dessert felt more like a pudding.

While the brunch is decent, Hyde & Seek seem more popular at night though, where the hip and happening of Bangkok descent for a variety of creative cocktails.
