One main reason why I like Millenia Walk as a choice for dining in Singapore, is because the mall contains many restaurants and cafes not found elsewhere. A few examples of my favourites are Miharu Sapporo Ramen, Tart Blanc, Patisserie G and Pullman Bakery.

Plus, I hear that 3 new Japanese restaurants – Chabuton, Saboten and Tomi Sushi – are opening soon, and Millenia Walk already has Teppei Syokudo, Rakuzen, and Sandaime Bunji for Japanese food fans.

Their NOSH on the Finer Side in April offers different treats for everyday of the week, so look out for all the promos.

Here are 10 Restaurants & Cafes To Dine At Millenia Walk:

Tart Blanc
#01-102 Tel: +65 6238 6893

Tart Blanc has tarts as its focus. The dainty and small cosy setting make the patisserie cafe a relaxing place to hang out for your afternoon teas. The tart base is like an art canvas, made fresh everyday and are meticulously matched to each tart flavour .

Like an excited child in a toyshop, I was busy scanning through all their gorgeous tarts, from Raspberry Praline ($7.50), Blood Orange Matcha ($7.50), Lemon Blackberry Tart ($7.50), and Banana Chocolate Silk Tart ($7.50). But my new found love, was the Peach & Salted Yolk Tart ($7.50) which contained slices of bruleed peaches sitting on top a sour cream coffee cake with a molten salted yolk filling. Reminded me of a very good Hong Kong egg tart. Divine.

Patisserie G
#01-40 Tel: +6338 7578

Few would deny that Patisserie G serves some of the best chocolate cakes in Singapore. Their signature, aptly named “The G Spot” ($9) hits all the right notes with the dark chocolate mousse with chocolate meringue pairing.

The “Triomphe” ($9) a salted slightly burnt caramel mousse cake with hazelnut sponge, makes a perfect pairing with coffee.

Miharu Sapporo Ramen
#01-06 Tel: +65 6733 8464

Fans have asked “Where did Miharu go?” after its move from Gallery Hotel. Here it is, at Millenia Walk.

Miharu’s chewy Sapporo ramen uses Nishiyama Noodles imported directly from Hokkaido. These Japanese noodles come frozen from Japan and have to be thawed for a number of days to achieve that springy bite.

The broth was full of miso and pork-flavoured fragrance. It almost felt like the all the goodness of the pork has been absorbed by the soup from the long hours of cooking. Still one of my favourite ramens in Singapore. The recommended include Tokusen Miso ($14.80), Miso Tonkotsu ($14.80) and Tokusen Ton Shio ($14.80).

Fika Swedish Café & Bistro (Halal)
#01-20 Tel: +65 6336 7234

“My meatballs are the best Halal ones you will find in Singapore”, co-owner Tasneem Noor could be right. She opened this Nordic-inspired café as an extension of her love for Scandinavian things (She did marry a Swedish artist after all.)

Fika offers hearty Scandinavian fare and homemade Swedish dishes in a relaxed bright environment, using halal ingredients to reach out to Muslims, making it a great place for a gathering with friends and family.

We liked the all-beef Swedish Meatballs ($19.50) best, served with lingonberry jam and yummy creamy homemade sauce. Do try the Pytt i Panna ($19.90) – Swedish Hash made of potatoes and beef cubes, and Toast Skagen ($18.90) – a cold salmon roe and fresh water shrimp open-faced sandwich.

Marco Marco
#01-88 Tel: +65 6336 5606

Pasta dishes with names like The Singapore, The Kyoto, The Bangkok and The Roma ($11.90 – $12.90), and even pizzas called The Delhi, The Honolulu and The Mexico ($13.90 – $14.90) pepper their menu.

The people behind Marco Macro obviously know something about having fun with their food. They created a range of modern Italian dishes Inspired by the taste profile of various cities and named them after these cities.

We found great pride in The Singapore ($11.90), a prawn linguine dish tossed in laksa cream and ginger flower, and generous portions of meat and cheesy goodness in The Melbourne Pizza ($14.90), topped with beef salami, bacon strips and turkey ham. Delicious lah!

Bel Mondo – South Italian Cuisine
#01-09 Tel: +65 6336 3348

Interesting, Bel Mondo was first established in Osaka Japan, and the restaurant specializes in South Italian food, synonymous with the colourful Mediterranean. Thus, you will see ingredients such as tangy tomato, fresh seafood and olive oil frequently used.

Go for their Pizza Truffle ($28++) topped with buffalo mozzarella, mixed mushrooms, garlic, parmesan cheese, extra virgin oil and of course, white truffle oil.

Warning: You need a few friends to share this with, except of course if you have a huge appetite.

Madam Saigon
#01-26 Tel: +65 6338 3831

Madam Saigon features an extensive menu offering Vietnamese specialties from the southern regions of Vietnam. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Hung who is from Ho Chi Minh City, and has more than 25 years of culinary experience.

Other than the signature Special Beef Noodle Soup ($10.90), we would recommend the sampler set of Saigon Spring Rolls ($23.50) which includes prawn summer rolls, fried spring rolls and net prawn rolls all in one.

Paulaner Bräuhaus
#01-01 Tel: +65 6883 2572

Paulaner Bräuhaus is possibly Singapore’s first German Microbrewery & Restaurant and is still an all-time favourite place to go to for authentic Bavarian and Munich specialities

We needed a few friends (and empty bellies) to share the hearty portions of Crispy Pork Knuckle ($29.80) with sauerkraut and bread dumpling and Beef Goulash ($24.80) seasoned with dark beef. This would go along well with German beers freshly brewed-on-the-premise by their resident brew master.

Outback Steakhouse
#01-114 Tel: +65 6837 3242

When we hear “Outback Steakhouse”, we think of big portions of steak, ribs and lamb chops. All the steaks are actually first dry-aged for a minimum of 21 days, then delivered un-carved to the restaurant, and subsequently cut and cooked to order in the kitchen.

Their baby back pork ribs (Price?) contain a signature blend of 17 secret spices, smoked in-house, and brushed with tangy homemade BBQ sauce bursting with flavours. The best part… it almost “fell off the bone”.

Commune Café
#02-50 Tel: +65 6337 1038

Commune is an interesting concept, a design and furniture space on the left, and a café on the right – an extension of the ‘Commune’ lifestyle. The menu features homemade cakes, freshly grilled paninis, pastries, artisanal coffee (from Common Man Coffee Roasters) and tea.

How about some Chocolate Banana Waffles ($8.50) with ice cream? With an industrial décor, and dining area located on a bridge (yes, bridge), this could be the place for people-watching during the weekends.
