Not anymore. While previously it was the restaurants at Chinatown that opened till the wee hours of the night, there are more varied and exciting late night dining options. Though many of which are still Asian-cuisine oriented.
Do note for the Chinese restaurants, dim sum is usually served day time, while night time you would find more wok-fried and seafood dishes.

Pitt Street near Sydney’s CBD is the unofficial Korean town, where BBQ restaurants, fried chicken eateries, grocery shops and cafes at found at every corner. Madang is known to be the best there. The BBQ Modeum (AUD$58, portion for 2 pax) is a value-for-money set to get, with BBQ items of bulgogi, ox tongue, chicken, pork, king prawn, octopus and mussels.

One of the hippest places to dine in Sydney is this Thai restaurant. Super packed all the time. My tip, come AFTER 10pm, BEFORE the musical opposite ends. Plus, there are always supper items at a cheaper rate. Super old school Cantonese restaurant, where dim sum trolleys are still pushed around, and we can imagine a very traditional Chinese wedding dinner taking place here. Service is typical – which means you may get told off if you don’t make your orders clear. Part of the charm I suppose.

The variety is wide, and goes on to Peking Duck (AUD$65), BBQ noodles (AUD$9.80), Congee (AUD$10.50) and Chicken Laksa (AUD$13.80).
